Suddenly I discovered that my blood pressure shoots up significantly when I consume much salt. The situation gets better only when take some water pills to remove excess salt and water from the body and then my blood pressure returns to normal. Is there a better way of handling this aside staying away from salt?

Unfortunately, the best way is just eat less salt. You could take medication for it, but when the solution is simply to cut down on your salt intake, why would you want to go on medication, you know?

Great. I also saw online that increasing your Potassium intake can also lower the salt levels.

I also have this kind of thing where if I put so much salt in my food. I feel dizzy a bit and feel like I will pass out. they say it makes your blood boil. idk where they get that but they example a water. they said put water without salt and put a water with salt next to each other and boil them at the same firepower. the one with salt will boil more easily as it has this minerals that make it boil faster. idk tho but yea. that is what they said. and now I am trying to lessen the salt thing in my foods and yea I am going fine

I think the best way is to hydrate ourselves religiously.

@Tunde my wife’s blood pressure has reduced significantly since I stopped using salt in my cooking, and the taste hasn’t been a problem. We have also cut out most processed food.

Thats great. You cut processed foods like which ones? I drink a bottle of soda daily, does it affect blood pressure?

@ogbenishyna Soda is usually heavy with sugar - that’s another thing we try to exclude. We eat lots of vegetables, beans and fish, especially salmon. We also walk a lot and try to relax in life. We also drink rose tea which is caffeine-free and can help lower BP.

I do not have that problem. I have low blood pressure. Not sure if that means I can eat as much salt as I want, but I don't worry too much it.

Low blood pressure is far better , it means you have low blood sugar and you are probably not eating well. You should avoid eating too much salt.

I don’t have this problem, I eat tons of salt and even add salt to hash browns and fries and soup. My BP stays pretty low no matter what. The other thing you could do (besides taking the water pills) would be to drink extra water (yes, this works because then you’ll excrete more sodium every time you pee) or eat asparagus, daily. I would say asparagus is probably the strongest natural diuretic in the world. This was my BP last night. I checked it because I had 2 migraines with aura yesterday and I haven’t had those in ages.

@ogbenishyna I’ve lost a dangerous amount of weight over the past few months without trying and nobody knows why, including me. Docs say my labs are fine. I’ve been to many. Family is worried, always buying me food. And I am eating, even eating extra, adding sweets, you name it. And I’m still about 40 lbs down. Weight is stubborn when you try to lose it, but I can tell you it’s even more stubborn trying to put it on. I’ll be ok

No, the best way is to stay away from salt. Youre being irresponsible... Eating excessive salt is linked to high blood pressure, stroke, kidney disease, bone density issues and oedema (water retention) ... Regulary using diuretics will cause you issues with your kidneys and heart in the long run. Do your organs and the health system a favour and cut back on salt.
