Not sure which kitchen floor tile to get

Finally went to look at floor tile for the kitchen. In my mind I was thinking big square tile (24x24 in perhaps) but hubby really wants the big long ones (24x48 in). The guys at the store told us that since our square footage is 110 the 24x48 will be good. I’m not 100% sure how that will work once it’s installed. And I hope there won’t be issues when the contractor is cutting the tile and placing it on the floor. I’d prefer if the cut pieces end up being under the cabinets where they are not visible. We narrowed down our choices to two different tiles. One is semi shiny and the other is matte and looks more like a stone. The semi-shiny one comes in 24x24 and 24x48 but the matte one, which I prefer more, only comes in 24x48. The tiles in the picture are both 24x48. But it comes out looking more square here for some reason. The one on the right is the semi-shiny one. The one on the left is the matte.

I hope installing that size won't be an issue.

Those are similar in colouring to the ones we have on the floor. They are oblong but not 24 x 48. Let us know which one you decide on.

I prefer the matte. But it doesn't come in a square size. I have to tell the contractor that it only comes in 24x48 and see if he will be able to install it.

Thanks. I think I wanna talk to the contractor before placing an order. However, people at the store said contractor has to do what we want and not the other way around. So if we want big long tile that is what we should get. He was telling us not to get very long rectangular tile like wooden plank. I don’t think is that size lol.

I'd go with the one you prefer intuitively.

For me it’s more the issue of size than which tile to get. I wish I could see how our kitchen would look with the large title.

I like the tile on the right since I like light colors on tiles.

The tile on the right doesn't look as good in the picture as it does in real life. You don't really see the shine on it in the picture. It is prettier looking but I prefer matte.

I would pick the matte one, because shiny shows water spots. But I like matte better, anyway. So, how is it going, you’re cooking and such during this kitchen turmoil?

I prefer matte though the other one stands out more. For now the stove is still connected to the gas so we are good. Once he disconnects it then we have a problem.

@MarieCoyle Not sure if that will happen but he told me at one point he will disconnect it and reconnect it again. I am not sure when to have new appliances we bought be delivered. Store guy said gotta tell him two weeks before I need them but I have no idea when I will need them. It all depends on how long contractor will take to do everything and when the kitchen will be put up.

I would lean towards matte. The left looks pretty, and also easier to keep clean.

Yeah. And if it is dirty it will look like it’s part of the tile design.

Are they both easy to clean? Good luck picking one. Enjoy your day.

I think so but the one on the left I like better. It doesn't have a big spot where it's sort of empty like the top left of the right one. And if it gets dirty it won't be as visible.

@lovebuglena Yeah, the one on the right looks like they forgot to finish the tile.

for me the left one is good as. the more white once is easy to get dirty. while the light gray once dirty things can just blend into it

Dirt can look like part of the tile design with the gray one. People won’t know the difference.
