Hugging Oneself: What?!?

I am living with my immediate family. Since I am single, it is nice to be with my younger brother's family. At some point, I also hug myself all the time for not having a partner in life. Moreover, they treat me like their parent. Can I blame them? Both my parents went to heaven so soon, and the responsibilities were passed on to me. If I am in the countryside, I might also be living with my extended family there. Unfortunately, we are not that close anymore. Do people of your nation also live with their extended families or only their immediate ones? Do you hug yourself, too? Image Credit: media.istockphoto.com

Yes It is common in Serbia especially in smaller places where there are a lot of houses, big houses as well, for families to live in the same house or in the same yard, different houses. Not so much in bigger cities cuz of space, mostly apartments.

We are on the same page about having tight family ties. If I have a lot of money, I would buy a big house and live with the close extended families. Or, it could be in one land property and they can build their own houses there.

Most of us in the US only live with our wife or partner and children until the kids get old enough that they want to move out and live on their own.... You know Pretty still lives with me, though. We have a huge family but we don't really talk with most of them, either. Sometimes my friends hug me...

I do think that Pretty will always be your baby daughter. It is common for most Filipinos to be living with their partners, immediate family, or even extended families.

@Shavkat I hope so. I'd be lost if she moved out. I've read articles that say that a lot of adults Pretty's age are still living with their parents.

My siblings think of me as their parent too. Both of our parents went to heaven also.

I think I should. It has been a long time that I hugged myself.

No, here in Switzerland people do not live with their extended family. I do not hug myself, I let my husband hug me.

Close family only most of the time here. I do think that it would be better if families lived closer many times.

I never did...yet. But that isn't a bad idea. I usually just pat myself in the back, like literally when I do something good.

In my country, most people prefer to live on their own. But some communities tend to stay together with everyone in their family.
