Yesterday's trip down town.

My Mum came with me down town shopping yesterday. She was going to get her repeat prescription and she was going to go to Bon Marche to get something with her birthday money. It was very hot out, but at least we had some cloud and a bit of breeze. I didn't take my coat. We set off, but after a while my Mum said, if I'm going to slow for you, you can go on ahead and do your own thing, so I did. I went round the top path round Stowe Pool, and then I went to the toilet by the Cathedral. After that I went straight to WH Smith to look for a magazine about foreign banknote collecting. I was there quite a while looking at the magazines. All I could find were ones about coins, but there was an article in one of them about Mexican banknotes, so I got that, and I also got a magazine about how to draw and paint animals. I went to go to the self service checkout, but found that they'd changed them. There used to be 3 self service checkouts, and all of them took cash. There are now only 2, and one of them is card only. A lady was at the other one so I waited for her to go. Then I went to the self service checkout. The self service checkouts themselves have changed too, you know scan at the front where you used to scan at the side, and space for your basket has changed sides. It also no longer gives you a receipt! After I'd payed at WH Smith, I set off to go to The Works. At the end of the Three Spires Shopping centre I saw my Mum coming up to go to Bon Marche. I went up and showed her what I'd got from WH Smith, and then she told me she'd only just got here and got her repeat prescription, so if I'd have stayed walking with her I probably wouldn't have been happy! Then my Mum went off to Bon Marche and I went off to The Works. I was wishing I'd bump into Paul from art class! I got a book about watercolour painting, a note book, a mathematical set, with one of those things, I forget what they're called, that you put a pencil in and you can make perfect circles, and a packet of biros that I might give to my step-dad for his birthday. After I'd payed for those, I went to Iceland (the shop not the country) and got a sweet and sour chicken, a Chinese style chicken curry, some cereal bars, 3 sea bass for me, ginger nuts for my step-dad and some strawberries. After I'd payed for the things from Iceland, I was humming and arring about wether I should go to Tales Press to see if they had any pastel paper, but I don't really need it quite yet, and I've still got a sheet I didn't use in art class because we used a smaller piece for the lemon grove. (That's if I can find it!) So I left that and decided to go another day instead. I went to the toilet by the Cathedral, and then I went home, going round the top path round Stowe Pool again. As I was coming round Stowe Pool I saw my Mum ahead of me. I caught up and walked alongside and said, I didn't expect you to be this quick! And then she said she hadn't got anything from Bon Marche after all! After all that! Anyway, I went on ahead again, and I got in and unpacked everything and put it away. Then I got my lunch and watched some telly. What have you lot been up to? I hope you are all well. Have a nice day.

@sharonelton A compass, that’s what you call those circle drawing contraptions that we used in school to poke people with. I hated those but I did like the set squares and protractors but I never found out what they were for - I must have been absent that day!

Protractors for measuring angles; set squares for drawing lines at different angles.

Ah, yes! Thank you for letting me know! They are useful for drawing accurate circles with! I don't know what set squares and protractors are for either!

Went shopping with Mum. Hot day. Explored alone, got magazines, shopped, reunited with Mum who didn't buy anything. Back home, had lunch, watched TV

I didn't know there might be a magazine dedicated to collecting foreign money! I guess there are magazines for everything! Glad you found most of what you wanted.

Saturday I went to my cousin's wedding reception. She got married earlier in the mountains and had the reception on Saturday. I joined in with some line dances. After the reception, I went with my great-aunt and great-uncle to a hardware store and I looked at some ceiling fans.

Oh, wow! Congratulations to your cousin. I hope you enjoyed the wedding reception. I could do with a ceiling fan! My Grandma Brown used to have one of them, and at the time I hated it, but now I would appreciate it!
