Short story: A religious journey into a different World of Religion

Our lives should be lived in such a way that we grow into truth from living from love

The year was 1912, and the young Sufi master, Zir Shar Ghan, was sent by his own teacher, in India to introduce Sufism to America. He gave several lectures to various audiences, outlining the goals of Sufism. He talked about the great law of love, saying that we should treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves. Also, a man should be compensated for his effort, even as the law of reciprocity says that we tend to return a favour done to us by someone to them. We should realise that there is one God, and we should all be in agreement with that. The first step on any spiritual path should be to renounce your old ways, and be open to embracing the new ways, of living, and loving, as God would like you to live like. Asking for forgiveness helps you to be sincere in the turning around of your life, from being self-directed, to being God directed. We move from living from a selfish self, to a pure self. The stages of this development include passing through a self that becomes remorseful for its past ways of being, and then refining itself so that it lives more peacefully alive, within love, not desire, anymore. This self is inspired to live with God, inspiring it to live such a loving life, full of service for God, in harmony with God. This is achieved by us embracing and understanding the truths of our living patiently, humbly, and thankfully. Our inner life must be prayerfully lived, intuitively divinely, and being connected to God's words, as they live within us, when we live from his love within us. We must reach past self-centredness, and give up our empty reasoning, to living from the expression of love, rather than the logic of mind. We should maintain our nearness to God, by prayer, and from our loving of him. We should live truthfully within this divine reality. Renouncing our attachment to the ways of the world bring us into God's world, and closer to understanding God's truths, as they live within our hearts, placed there by God for us to live from, and to eventually fully understand with our minds too. Let God's love shine on your life, and on any problems that you might experience in that life. The opposite of love, which we refer to as hate, achieves nothing good in any life. Allow love to extinguish all of any hate within you. In the Christian Bible, we see the idea of speaking the truth in love, as Saint Paul advised us to do, in his letter to the Ephesians, chapter 4, verse 15. "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ." We need to grow into this truth, as it is revealed to us, in our hearts, from God living there in us too, and then reveal it to others through love. This is the gist of one of his lectures, as recorded by a scribe in his audience. I'm not familiar with Sufism, but the teaching is closely related to Christianity. A person can do all those things, and still miss heaven. One thing is needed: a life committed to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Only when you are Born Again, will you see heaven. Have a blessed day.

Yes, we have to go through the right gate, manned by Jesus Christ to get into Heaven. I do wonder what the fate of the millions of Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Buddhists, etc will be, though. There are many good people in some of these religions too. If you are born into one of these religions, it might be hard to change too. Isaiah, chapter 56, verses 6 and 7, seems to say that these other foreign people will be allowed into Heaven too, though. "And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant— these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations."

@innertalks Yes, because they will do the one thing that is necessary to go to heaven: Accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Without that step, they will not see heaven.

@just4him Yes, John, chapter 14, verse 6, says that, and it is coming from Jesus Christ, himself too. 'Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."'

I have a view to reinvent myself through self-reflection based on my life experiences. However, I do not vary from truth and love - the basic tenets of living a meaningful life There is only one creator but many paths to reach him and get his blessings. Humanity should be above our beliefs as otherwise, we will know no peace. A selfish life will end up in misery while the real reward is by serving God through helping his creations.

I would expect that there are many paths too, and yet, Christianity claims that they are the only valid path into Heaven. I would hope that all paths can wind there way into Heaven, somehow too. Otherwise, a lot of good religious types will miss out, like the Hindus, and the Muslims. There are saints in every religion, l think.

@Shiva49 I do not see the appeal in exclusivity, as God's love is for all, and a place in Heaven, should be for all too.

@innertalks Islam too bars others into heaven. Maybe, there will be separate heavens and Gods too! I cannot make out where I was previously to start with! I recall Gandhi's words “There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.”
