Filipino Delicacies

My country, the Philippines, is rich in culture including Filipino delicacies, which I believe I have not really explored and tasted all. As you all know the Philippines is an archipelagic nation comprising of 7,107 islands. This makes it, of course, diverse in all its sense. Inhabitants from different islands may not totally understand one another as they speak different dialects. There around 106 of it all throughout the archipelago. Every vacation I have my sister-in-law never miss to make me try some of these Filipino delicacies. She bought some snacks three different this morning. I actually don't know what their names are. Hahaha! I am still on my annual vacation now and I stayed most of the time in my property in Kabacan, North Cotabato. It is a neighboring town of my hometown, which is Maguidanao. My parents still live there because this is where most of our properties lie and where they get their source of income from our farms. My parents are pretty old but still alive and kicking. Let alone, my mum still managed to argue with us about so many things including where they should be settling and for them to have caregivers and helpers already. However, my mum wins all the time. We are rich with properties, but we are also rich with debts accumulated by my brother who seemed to mismanage whatever business his family ventures. The saddest thing is that whether I like it or not I get to be involved every time and the reason why I am also indebted. My family is complete, which most people who we know envy about us. However, what they don't know are the amount of problems we have because of the black ship in our family. There were occasions when my parents' life were already in danger. My Papang (father) was shot on his neck once. My brother too was. These were on different occasions, and these were times our family was shaken to their near-death situations. Despite all the odds, I am still very thankful to the Lord because all of us are alive and still breathe fresh air every day. Furthermore, even though my annual vacation is short, this is the time that all of us are together whether in harmony or chaos because of occasional arguments and loud voices thrown to one another during family meetings. This is the time when me, my brother, Papang, Mamang, Ninang, two nephews (Bugoy and Neil) and my sister-in-law are together. I really don't know until when it will last. At times, I want to feel like giving up already. That is how heavy our family problems are. Just two days ago our 10 farmers stormed us a visit in my property for certain issues, and I couldn't help it, but I was just taken aback. Imagine, while they were talking to us in their dialect which I still managed to perfectly understand a hundred percent, I could image all horns emerging from their left and right temples. I felt like they are already claiming the farm as theirs. Wow! I even wanted to fly back to Manila and just spend the rest of my vacation in my condominium unit no matter how lonely I can get though. By the way, despite all these oversights, I will try to catch up myself on some notifications for the past few days already. I still have to visit other discussions too to pay back to those who were really very nice in commenting my discussions.

It seems as if there is always that one family member who brings only trouble to everyone else. I hope somehow you all are able to get out of so much debt.

Oh my, those look good! It's been a while since I had some of those delicacies. My grandmother, when she's still alive, would make biko and suman with coco jam. My aunts and uncles have her recipe but it seems like theirs don't taste quote the same as when my grandma would make them. Sounds like you have lots of family matters to deal with during your trip, I hope you get to enjoy some during this break.
