Short story: When is a nurseryman not a nurseryman, but something else instead?

The old master lived in a quaint little cottage

There was once a poor nursery owner, who competed against all of the large chain stores, but who still managed to make a small living from his many hours, put into his business. Unbeknown to anyone, this man was actually a learned man, well-versed in the Spiritual truths. He was an enlightened master. But, he was a hidden Teacher, unknown to all and sundry, who taught students, ready to be taught, from his home, at night-time, after his day’s work in his nursery. Here is his last talk, unedited, as given just last week to his students, and taken down in writing by one of them. “We are who we are, and yet we are not who we are, until we are who we are.” “This play of words is meant to show you that the real us is deeper within us than our surface self.” “When we become awakened to our true self, our true self starts being us then, as we are not covering it over with our false pretences instead.” “Our mind is like a dirty pair of socks, that we have worn, and which now start to smell with a distinctive odour.” “We need to immerse our mind in the pure waters of God’s love, to cleanse our mind of its smells, its attachments, to the ways of the world, in a similar way as to how we wash our socks in a washing machine.” “To see truth, we must see it through our inner eyes, not our outer eyes, which are usually glazed over with non-truth instead.” “Feelings and emotions are creations of our mind using our body’s energy. Love is the creation of God, instilled in our soul.” “Humility is a lot about just not making a fuss over anything.” “Love is from God, and God’s love is real.” “Truth is the wisdom of God living in you as wisdom too, as energy, and as love, loving in a wise, and truthful way, as God loves.” “My message to you all is always one of love, and truth.” “When you love, you are truthful, and when you are truthful, it is because you are loving.” “Love does not control you, nor you it.” “Love is just itself in you, when you allow it to be, and it then can direct your actions, but not control, as your soul makes the decision, or not to follow love, and your mind, controlling your body, so to speak, will then follow your soul, if you allow it to, and if you do not think that you are the mind only, and so then you will think that you must live from your mind, and its dictates, or thinkings, for your life.” And so, his lecture was then complete, until his next lecture. The old Master was very smart. You are who you are and you are not who you are not., You have to always be yourself.

Yes, we should not try to be somebody that we are not, and we should strive to be our best self too, who we really are.

@jstory07 Yes, that is a great saying, and we should remember it as we live our own lives.

1 John 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. (NKJV)

Yes, but we also do need to keep abiding in love, to abide in God, as when we step away from both God, and from love, our heart becomes cold, like a stone, and our life then reflects this change too. Proverbs, chapter 27, verse 19 says this: "As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person. Just as water mirrors your face, so your face mirrors your heart." We need to allow Jesus Christ to live in our hearts then, for it to reflect his love out of us towards life, and others too. We need to stay connected to love, and to God. Ephesians, chapter 3, verse 17: "That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love."

The mind should not be allowed to ride roughshod over our inner knowing laced with love. The state of our world is due to that lapse on our part - forgetting our true build-up that is one of coexistence and acceptance. Love should come to the fore and thereby dictate our thoughts and actions. That will lead to overall peace and fulfillment. At the moment, we allow ourselves to drift with our minds playing havoc.

Yes, when love is lived from first, and is who we are, we naturally then drop who we are not, the ego side of us, and our negative mind reactionary selves too.

@Shiva49 Yes, it does take great awareness, and a higher consciousness, to live from love, actively in our lives, and yet Jesus Christ said that even the innocent children are capable of great love too. So, we can love in two ways, consciously, or naturally. A child, even an animal, such as a dog, can love naturally, but to love consciously, takes understanding, awareness, and wisdom, to always do so.

@innertalks That requires a step-up in our awareness that is inborn in us to start with. Now we prefer animal instincts with due apologies to them as they do justice to their natural inclination and awareness.

Yes, God is love, and when we love, and live from love, we are living our lives for God then, and loving him to the full.
