Why are we here? Do you appreciate our differences?

**Warning, may be a tad sappy, I do have that tendency at times** Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. It always has been. A world without books would, to me, be a very sad place. We can learn so much from books and enjoy the read at the same time. I never tire of them. But...today I was thinking on a few posts that were put up in here, and reading through them, doing some thinking. Most of us have never met in person. We only know the person posting from their myLot posts, although I do know some of us are on each other's facebook pages, Instagram, twitter (aka-X). And a few of us have met in person. I think we learn a lot from each other here, without even realizing we do that. Things I've learned from being on myLot? I've been thinking about this~~ There are people here from all over the world, every race, many countries. Many of us have very different lives, and we realize it even more as we get to know each other. Different upbringing, customs, clothing, foods. Different types of jobs, different family dynamics. But yet, here we are, a huge group of wildly different people, yet alike in that we enjoy getting to know each other. We have people who seem happy with their lot in life, and people who are unhappy. We have people who seem affluent, and people who have very little. We have happy people and depressed people, some are teasing, some sarcastic, some religious, and some not. In other words, I guess we have people here from all walks of life. If we don't agree, we have the option to avoid the topic, or try to explain why we don't. I like to think that everyone who posts tries to contribute, to share their days and experiences, and maybe in the end, learn something from each other. We're never too old to learn, at least, I don't think we are! *If the picture shows up, it's from Pixabay*

It isn't sappy at all. You did a beautiful job expressing yourself, and I very much agree. We've blessed by this site, by people from totally different worlds.

@MarieCoyle I like to read too and this site takes reading to a whole new level. Each Mylotter’s discussions are like chapters in a book and we get to interact with the characters of the books personally.

@Tampa_girl7 Oh, I like that thought, chapters in a book. Hey, that makes us all authors, right? On a more serious note, it is a true statement. Our lives are shared and woven together here.

Our own worlds can often be small and confining. It's nice to get another perspective at times. There is a world beyond our own, and I think sometimes, we forget that.

@MarieCoyle Yes. Some inspire me to do better in life. Sometimes, I feel demotivated, especially with everything that's going on in my life. Anyway, how are you today, Marie? .

@freelancermariagrace I am doing OK. I have a leg/vein problem at the moment that I hope is on the mend, so I have not been as physically active as I wish I could be for several weeks. But after 2 rounds of antibiotics, I am finally on the mend, and I am so thankful. Yes, I think we do often inspire each other here, just through conversation. We never know by what we say or do if we might be influencing or even changing a life. I hope you have a good weekend with no bad happenings!

I do, too. Sometimes when I read about something someone else is doing, it motivates me to get busy, too. Plus, I just enjoy reading about people's lives. I have also learned a lot about what is acceptable in certain countries, and what isn't. I have so many interests, and can usually find posts about a lot of them here. A person can learn something from pretty much anyone they meet, whether it's in person or online. It's all good.

@Marilynda1225 It seems a lot of people here on myLot cannot really get out and about, due to health, transportation problems, safety, and so on. I am more than sure that myLot interactions help them as well as just coming to chat. I just enjoy meeting and reading and chatting, it's good for the soul.

It's the diversity of all the people on this site that make me enjoy coming back day after day. I value learning about each other's lives and cultures. And as real as our difference are across the world, we all really want the same thing in life: peace, prosperity, happiness and comfort.

Yes, it is all we really want. Our world is pretty short on those things right now. We have to find our own little pockets of happiness, and enjoy them when we can, Jeff. You said that so well.

Does MyLot count as reading? I enjoy reading, and have learned a lot from reading. But I also enjoy talking to people. That, to me, includes MyLot. I am friendly (but not invasive) when out and about, and learn even from people I chat with "on the road."
