Got New License Plates and Registration

Before this weekend started, we decided to go to our DMV and register both our vehicles. Why would we choose to do it on a Friday before the long weekend - I also don't know. But somehow we were able to accomplish what we set out to do. My husband was able to get his military plates, and they gave him the first year for his registration for free! He only paid $30.00+ because he got the state park pass. He's so happy; in our previous state, they consider military plates as vanity plates so they charge those requesting for it at a premium. I wasn't as lucky. I ended up paying $450.00 for my registration! Ouch! Good thing that we're able to send back our old plates to our prior home state, and they will refund us the remaining years' cost of those plates. The husband told me he will give me some of his refund money to help pay for my plates. The next thing that we need to do is transfer our driver's license. We have to schedule an appointment for it, and they are scheduled as far back as the last week of September, which I already took. Moving is really an expensive ordeal. I need to work soon!

Do not tell us, we moved from another country, expensive for sure. We also had to apply for residency here.

Same, I mean I did too about 10 or so years ago. I moved to the US from the Philippines. Have to apply for residency, get my college transcripts evaluated and translated for US equivalency, get new credit cards, get new doctors, dentist, etc. I have to move my life for 9,000 miles. I don't recommend it.

@Raine38 You went through all that yourself, so you know how annoying it is.
