intermittent pain after last root canal

since my first session of my root canal, pain was gone on the same day. but pain gets back like a week after or the day for my second visit or session of root canal for the same teeth. as it takes like 3 sessions to complete one root canal. the pain was lesser though. after the second session, the pain was gone again. but on the third week of visit, the pain strikes again. as painful though pain didn't last that long as before. the dentist had me another session or another week. which had pain again but less often. then four days after that there was still pain. but after that, there was no more pain. like 4 days now no pain. I'm waiting to complete a week at least of no pain before i get back to my dentist. before having new tooth crown. so that the new jacket or crown would not be need to be drilled a how into if there's pain again. so making sure there's nothing wrong anymore or needs anything to do again on my teeth that's needs a jacket.

I understand that dental treatment can be very uncomfortable, which is why I have been reluctant to have my teeth extracted.

yes, it has been a problem. but thankfully seems getting okay now. hopefully, here won't be anymore root canal season needed anymore. it gets tiring already visiting dentist often

Did the dentist put a temporary filling after the root canal? If it was not smooth enough that could have been the cause of the pain.

i didn't know it can cause pain. yes, got temporary filling which isn't smooth. but i have no pain since Sunday. or 4 days now. still observing for a week more if it'll be still painless

@LadyDuck that's what happens during the 3 sessions. no pain for 7 days after each visit. then it strikes again after a week. to make sure. I'm like observing more than a week . maybe like 2 to 3 weeks no pain. then I can say it's fine. only then I will proceed to getting my old crown or jacket replaced. as the root canal procedure, the teeth involved was inside a crown. so it got damaged with so much drilling. as the dentist had hard time getting into the canal with just small hole on the crown tooth. but it involves 4 teeth. like to replace one crown means replacing all those 4 adjacent crowns together. an added expense. but the dentist said. closing the holes with just permanent filing would not last long and can expose the root canal also to infections.

@hotsummer It can cause pain during several days. If it's over now, you should be fine.

Oh my, so sorry to hear that you've been in pain for days! Toothaches are tricky, and sometimes you cannot tell if it's your tooth or your head that's hurting, all because they are all located in the same place - the head. Hopefully you find some relief soon. I understand the hassle of having to return to the dentist constantly to figure out everything to finally address the cause.

it seems with no more lately, on my next visit the dentist will just clean and seal the tooth with some permanent filing. but then, I plan to change my old jacket or crown to a new one. that will be painless, but will take much of my time again. i hate spending more time on the clinic.
