First, I have to say “thank you” to everyone who endures the glitches to listen to these silly songs. It’s more effort, and sometimes you don’t find it worth it. Today’s song is probably one of those where you wish you hadn’t bothered. But I like it, so here it is! Lakeside Trailer Park - The Beat Farmers San Diego’s Cowpunk legends! I’m so glad I got to see these guys live. Plus, I survived meeting Country Dick Montana! Country Dick (ne Dan McLain) was the drummer for the band. He was a good, intense drummer. But that’s not what made him a Cowpunk superstar. No, it was when he stepped out front to sing. Montana had a DEEP bass voice, and he never used it for things like “oom-boppa-mow-mow” like Richard Sterban of the Oak Ridge Boys. No, he was the lead singer on things like “Happy Boy,” “Anarchy in the UK,” their Led Zeppelin medley, and this. Written by fellow Beat Farmer Buddy Blue, this is about as stereotypical of the trailer life as you can get (“my son’s a punk, he shoots up junk”). (Yes, I said that about “Fat Women in Trailers,” too. Mobile home parks are easy targets for comedians and tornadoes. ) Delivered with that deep voice (and performed onstage while shaking beer bottles and spraying the audience), you know it’s not serious. So have another laugh on the folks in their “lovely aluminum house.” Lakeside Trailer Park Written by Buddy Blue Recorded by The Beat Farmers From Viking Lullaby, 1994 From my Astroturf to my video Smurf:

The Beat Farmers flew under most people’s radar…or, in their case, crawled through the gutter under everybody’s radar.
