Rubber Chicken.

Not the novelty kind that you might give a child or pet to play with. This is called rubber chicken because it stretches in the budget. We got a whole, reduced price, chicken from the supermarket and this week it has provided dinner for two every night plus lunch for three days. The chicken has become chicken and vegetable pie for two nights, a chow mein, a risotto and a chicken curry. Plus I made stock and turned it into soup for lunches. Back when we had a dog, he'd get the bones after they'd been used for stock (they were totally soft by the time he got them). So the only thing that went in the bin was what it was wrapped in. This was a medium chicken, if I get a large one I could stretch it even more! Do you use up food this way? Did your parents or grandparents do this kind of thing? Are more people returning to this way of frugality given the current cost of things?

That sounds like such a good idea! Congratulations on making such good use out of everything.
