Does anyone on here have a blog?

Years ago I thought of starting a blog, but most people who write one have some sort of theme and I couldn’t think of what mine would be. A few friends started blogs about outdoorsy life, wildlife or history things, but most have given up or only post occasionally. Now @AmbiePam has suggested I start one to write about my various projects – and it’s true I do seem to have a lot of things to fix or make into other things that I could write about. And now I can’t post photos on here it is more tempting too. Maybe I could inspire others to think differently about “rubbish”. What do you think? Does anyone else have a blog? How did you start? I mean literally, how did you set one up (for the non-techie person), how did you choose what provider to use etc? And how did you decide what to write about and what to say about yourself? Do you use your real name? (So far I have never posted anything really personal online, Fleur is not my name, and I generally avoid anything that could easily identify me). And do you have favourite blogs that you like to read? I think my favourite is Although I’m not as obsessed with crochet as she is, I love the way she writes and celebrates the day-to-day aspects of family life. Any ideas/tips gratefully received!

I prefer VLOG than BLOG. People like to watch videos on YouTube rather than reading...

I’m the opposite: I don’t want to watch a video at all; I would much rather read.

@AmbiePam Amber, that is me as well. I dearly love a good book! A REAL book, not an e-book. I like the feel of a book in my hands. I know...weird.

I watch videos sometimes. I especially watch 'how-to' videos of craft projects or various repair techniques. And occasionally I will watch one which is basically a documentary-type programme about history or something like that, but I tend to do that when I have a bit of spare time to sit down and devote myself to it, maybe while doing a bit of mending for half an hour or something, and that very rarely happens. Reading a blog post though is something I can do for just a few minutes when I need a little break from my work.

I hope you share about your life experiences too, but the cool thing is that so many of your great stories tie in to the reduce, reuse, recycle way of life. I know I have a couple of friends who would love to hear about your environmental attitude. They try to live that way too. It’s going to be exciting when you finally get it going!

I have three blogs on WordPress one is an armchair travel blog, one is for my poetry, and one is about animals. I also recently started linking my travel articles on Vocal Media with links on my Wordpress blog and it seems to be working out fine,

You sound like quite the expert! Do you use the same name for all of them? Are they all different styles and appearances? And what is Vocal Media?

I think your blog would be incredibly interesting. I have a blog but I don't post there. I wish I had done over the years but mostly Bubblews and myLot acted like a blog/journal for me. I forgot the password early in the piece and was never able to get myself organised with it again so it just sits there. Maybe I should get myself into gear and write about our house-sitting experiences. My son set mine up and used a free platform. Sorry I'm not more help. I'm a bit disappointed your name isn't 'Fleur'. It's such a pretty name.

Now I think your stories are far more interesting than mine, and you always have lots of great pictures too which is a big part of it I think. I always enjoy your posts on here.

Thought about it, but again what sort of theme and how often to update.

I think your cycling trips and interesting historical snippets would make an interesting blog.

I had a blog several years ago. I did Movie and TV reviews. You don't have to put your name on the blog at all if you don't want to or just use your first name. I used Blogger.com for free but then I bought a domain name for $12 a year. The website was pretty easy to use. You can choose from a lot of different templates. I gave up on the blog when I only earned a few pennies. Good luck and have a good day.

Thanks. I wouldn't be expecting to earn anything from it, although if it paid for itself that would be nice. Mainly I just like 'chatting'!

@fleura Any advice I would offer would be from a place of ignorance. However I might read such a blog.

If anyone has passion for writing he can write a blog. There are people worldwide who prefer reading than watching videos.
