In terms of humor, I think today’s song is the singularly funniest song on this monthlong list of goofy songs. The two songs above it are sentimental favorites. I’ve apologized for others, but not this one! Have a good laugh with today’s song. #3: It’s Hard to Kiss the Lips At Night That Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long - Notorious Cherry Bombs With a title like that, I supposed I really don’t have to explain anything. I also don’t think I need to tell you it’s a country song. I’ve met both of the guys who wrote this song, so that should explain a lot about my mental condition. Rodney Crowell wrote Bob Seger’s hit “Shame on the Moon,” and he was Johnny Cash’s son-in-law for ten years (married to Rosanne Cash). As for Vince Gill, well, he’s Mr. Amy Grant. He’s also working hard doing gigs at the Grand Ole Opry, the “All for the Hall” promotion for the Country Music Hall of Fame (of which he is an inductee), and running around the country touring with the Eagles. Gee, sorry the guy is unemployed. If you’ve never heard this song, I’m giving you a “spew alert.” I’ll also let you know that the video is MUCH funnier than the song, thanks in no small part to Vince’s ferocious overacting in his role as Rodney’s wife. They concluded with the line, “It’s all right if we say it ‘cause the radio won’t play it.” Well, the radio did. This is what country music is made of.
