Why did this YouTube video struggle?

This was the first YouTube video I posted with @Vandana7 in which I used an electric, rather than acoustic, bass. I am still trying to figure out why it struggled, relative to most of my YouTube videos. Was it the electric bass? Was it the time of year when we posted it? I am currently working on a video of a song by Mose Allison that I think is hilarious. But will others find it hilarious? I don't know. I suppose the "randomness factor" is always out there. Being a "local musician" is rewarding, but it can also be frustrating. You never know what will work and what will "almost work." Let me know if you find flaws in this video that could be corrected in future videos. I am always tying to "improve."

You and I are on the same page. I cannot for nuts understand why Pony ji doesn't understand that sadness is not trending.

I see it as a good version of a good song. I don't know why it tarried

@sallypup John Prine was an excellent songwriter. If some God said "You must do an album of someone's songs," I would choose John Prine. Another of my favorite John Prine songs is "Sam Stone.". Honest and raw. But @Vandana7 would veto it because it is "hella" sad.

The sole reason...people have enough to feel sad about. You gotta give them something to be happy about.

But "Hello in There" has done well. And that's an even sadder song than this one.

@TheHorse I'd like to see you do a cover of my crappy song, "Sunny Days." It's a song that sucks and makes no sense, but it would be fun to see what you do with it.

@vandana7 Maybe he could do it then. I had a link to it but it looks like the gestapo's who think I will make millions off it deleted it. lol They are so silly over here sometimes. It's no wonder so many flew the coop. P.S. It's NOT promotional if it SUPPORTS the comment and is RELATIVE to it. For Heaven's sake! lol

I do not see anything wrong, but maybe its kind of sad for people. Times are a bit depressing and people seem to flocking to more happy fun songs. I am no expert and been trying for years what makes music famous and never been able to figure it out. Operation Ivy was close, it takes a crowd of people and until you get that crowd most songs even if they genius or most down to earth song you will ever hear, will not take off.

I cannot quite understand these words. "Operation Ivy was close, it takes a crowd of people and until you get that crowd most songs even if they genius or most down to earth song you will ever hear, will not take off."

@TheHorse I figured, you would have to follow to understand. Musicians speak in poems so hoped that would work but figured it would not. Their song is we made a great song but without the crowd its nothing and they did it with extra juice by showing the crowd from the start and its very famous song for some and why Rancid became Rancid. Their point with no crowd, no operation ivy and because so young when things self destructed no Rancid. Its a very important song for them how you have to gain a following first in anything you do and if you not seeing it move on to something else. One of the reasons they think a band of teens which was shredding not just Northern Cali but So Cal, they were not seeing the crowd anymore due to band beefs but knew they had support from pretty much everywhere, they just needed the pieces to make it work.

I just watched a video of Jimmy Buffett and Jesse Winchester performing together. I hope those guys are jammin' in heaven. Both were able to strike a nice balance between the sad/introspective and the joyful.

@vandana7 Heh. I can't wait until I do an Indian song. Would you mess up a serious song with images of pretty young Indians riding dangerously through the countryside on a scooter singing to each other?

@LindaOHio We did them together, as usual. I let Vanny have her way on my piano piece, Little Bird. She actually did a nice job.

Great job on this one. But of course I thought so the first time I heard it. Not sure why this would struggle. But videos are strange sometimes in the way they work. Who knows is my best answer.

@TheHorse It's like with my song Pink Flamingoes (misspelled on purpose). I thought it was one of the weirdest, strangest songs I have ever written, and yet...to this day it gets the most spins of any of them. I can't figure it out.

@TheHorse one need to post regularly to hold his/her audience. Consistency is also a key as per my view.
