Hiking Lookout Mountain

One of the perks of living in the rockies is the abundance of nature trails. Before moving here in the United States, I would climb mountains with friends and co-workers. The last mountain that we climbed was Mount Pico de Loro in the Philippines. I haven't been in 11-12 years. Yesterday, that changed. The husband and I braved one of the 6-mile trails by Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colorado. I have to say that the hike kicked my behind - I am so out of shape, badly need the practice, and I need decent hiking shoes. I was just wearing one of those regular tennis shoes and after the hike, I have a hole in one shoe and the other one is about to have one. Suffice to say I threw those shoes away and has since been nursing my aching feet. The husband and I went to Cabela's to invest in good hiking shoes. Unfortunately for me, their smallest size is a 6, and I am a 5.5. I could go for the kids' section, but they do not have the arch support. So I will have to order one online. I am still hurting from that hike. I loved the workout though, and being out with nature. I just hope that I do not encounter bears or coyotes, which is present in the area. I can deal with squirrels, deers, and elks

I have never tried hiking, but it is one of the things that I'd love to try someday.
