People who say "I know" when you compliment them

I complimented someone and said "what do you mean, I look nice everyday". I was a bit flabbergasted by that response, lol. I have no problem complimenting anyone but usually they will say thanks and keep it moving. Even myself, I get complimented regularly on my appearance. I never say I know. I say TY and keep it moving. I personally see it as a sign of insecurity, what's your thoughts?

@Karusa I agree, that's an extremely odd reply!

They do and don't joke. This person loves herself a lot, but I still think it's an odd reply

Perhaps the person was being jestful. You know, sort of being funny instead of being serious. I have done that from time to time, but usually the other person knows based on my body language I am not being serious.

Yes and no. She tends to look down on others

@Karusa Ah. One of those kind of people. Yeah, she was probably serious.

Well, it's hard to tell without more context. I do admit that I have received similar responses, but I also know that they are just messing with me and will even try to pull funny faces to go with it. I have yet to experience someone who really takes a compliment to a whole new level. But say, if they are really so full of it and even start giving me an attitude, I'll just let it go but that will be the last time they will hear something nice from me. But that's just me.

Some people are angry or disturbed. I messaged someone, "I love you and care about you." She messaged back "eff off." She spelled it out. Some people are hard to figure out.
