And Off Into The Sunset They Went....

Just a quick update for everyone that's been following these updates the past few weeks. Both of my grandparents are gone I guess they passed away a half an hour apart this morning. I am surprised with how quickly she passed away, she didn't seem as far gone as he was. I should have went in and said a last goodbye before they were taken away but I didn't think I could do it. My grandma did get her wish for them to ride off into the sunset together after all....

I am sure you are all so upset. Even though now they are out of pain, they were a big part of your lives, and will be so missed. They really and truly didn't want to go on without each other. They surely shared a love story. I hope you and your family can find some peace in knowing they are together. I am just so very sorry, I know you loved them very much.

We are all heartbroken and shocked. Yes, they are what kept this family held together....they were part of it daily and it is just hard to believe we won't see them anymore. But I am glad they didn't have to go at different times and be apart...

@MarieCoyle Eventually we all will, yes...but when it is your family member you don't want to see them go ever. I was thinking of that movie earlier, when I heard that it happened so close together. Although they were not in the same bed at the time, holding hands....they were still in the same room next to each other.

@MommyOfEli2013 Even though we know everyone will eventually pass away at some point, the people left behind who loved the ones that passed are grieving for them. A few days ago, I re-watched ''The Notebook'' and your grandparent's passing so close together made me think of the movie. Together forever, but still tough on those left behind that miss them.

So sorry as I said in the other discussion..this is devastating to lose both of them at once. But one thing they surely did truly love one another RIP both. Big hugs Courtney. Deepest condolences to you and family.

Thank you, I am too. Just still in shock mostly. Never did we think they'd go together like that. But I guess their love was strong enough to let them go at the same time

I am not surprised. People who love each other and are close, often pass within hours or minutes of each other. Baring any unfinished business.

@MommyOfEli2013 I know it's crazy, but happens more frequently than most people think. Your grandparents had made peace with there passing and had no unfinished business. If you want to read something crazier, look up the couple who passed five minutes apart, holding hands.

I know my grandpa's parents went within a few months of each other...but just a half hour? It's still just so shocking

I honestly don't know how I am doing, still kind of shocked that they both passed away Not the wake up call I wanted to get today. But it is good that she got her wish, and that neither of them have to suffer any longer. I know he never said he was in pain, but I am sure my grandpa was miserable.

Oh, Courtney. My heart hurts for you and your family, but I know they must be feeling amazing right now, even while you guys have to deal with the suffering. How is Eli doing with this?

I can't even express how I am feeling. Right now just shocked and numb. Glad they at least get to be together and not have to spend any time without each other. Eli I don't think fully understands yet. He knows but doesn't really get it

Since it had to happen this was the best way for them to go. Neither had to grieve for the other. I know how hard it is for the family, but you can feel glad they went together.

Well that is what all of their lives were about, being together...so they passed together, and today they were buried together in the same casket.

I am so sorry. I understand how hard it is to say that last goodbye to the body, and there's no shame in deciding you can't do it. I'm so sad for you with those two big losses at once.

By the time we wanted to say our goodbyes, they were both no longer responsive...so it would have been so hard. Was very hard when we were watching my great grandma die, but she was still responding so that we could tell her goodbye and give her a hug and everything. But yes, losing both of them at once, I still don't know how to process that

I never heard of it happening this close, except for in the movie the Notebook. But I guess it is not that surprising that it happens. I am still in shock myself though, because we weren't prepared to lose my grandma this soon. We knew my grandpa had only a few days

So sorry for your loss. But that happens, a lot. Where couples that have been in love for that long pass within minutes to hours of each other. At least there together still/again/I don't know how I would word that.

I have heard of it happening, just never that close in time. But they were together for 60+ years. I think my grandma couldn't imagine being without my grandpa, so she gave up on trying to get better. She'd always say the "lets ride off into the sunset" sort of thing. But yes, that is good that they are still together...even if not here with us.
