Amid all this traveling I’m not gonna forget these songs that have “gonna” in the title. Today I start a string of songs you haven’t heard. Two of them I’d say “that’s too bad,” but that’s the way popular music in America works. Here’s today’s song for your dining and dancing pleasure. If You’re Gonna Cry - Shakin’ Stevens Shakin’ Stevens (no, not even close to his real name…it’s Michael Barratt) was a superstar in the UK in the 80s. Over here, he barely made a ripple in a pond. His “retro” sound is what got him the attention and the success in his native lands (he’s from Wales), and what made him popular with the “roots rock” movement here. Yes, I think it’s a shame he wasn’t a bigger hit in America. I enjoy the “retro” sound that was popular in the 80s (think Stray Cats) and Shakin’ Stevens would have been massively successful here if that scene had persisted in popularity. As it is, I still enjoy his music…and now, hopefully, you can enjoy one of his songs, too! If You’re Gonna Cry Written by Gary Sulsh and Stuart Leathwood Recorded by Shakin’ Stevens Released as a single, 1987 I’m gonna dry the tears you never cried for me:

Having a great weekend! Thank you. Gonna go get some free food if I can find an Olive Garden. (That’s why everyone joined the military…a free or discounted meal on Veterans Day…)

@FourWalls You're welcome. Red Lobster and Texas Roadhouse were offering free food too I think. Denny's always does too.

I think so, too. I wish had had been more popular in the US.

Lots of songs have a sad lyrical content but happy melodies. I tend to like songs like that.
