The laundry is done, the oil change for the car is scheduled, and my salsa level is slowly rising in my bloodstream after a week away from Chuy’s. After two days of country it’s back to soulful rock and roll for today’s “gonna” song. Never Gonna Leave You Alone (Crazy ‘Bout You Baby) - Joe Vitale Here’s a guy that you’ve most likely never ever heard of, but I guarantee you that you’ve heard him if you listen to FM/“classic” rock. I promise. When you hear that drum at the opening of “Life’s Been Good” you know it’s “Life’s Been Good.” That’s Joe Vitale on drums. In fact, pretty much every Joe Walsh solo song you’ve heard has Vitale on drums. Oh, and Joe V. co-wrote “Rocky Mountain Way.” So if you’ve “never heard of him” he’s not exactly crying and standing on the street corner with a cardboard sign that says “will drum for food.” He’s part of one of my most embarrassing moments in history involving a celebrity. Bet he still teases Graham Nash about it, too. Anyway, while Joe W. was doing his 1981 album There Goes the Neighborhood Joe V. was recording his own solo album. I saw Walsh on the tour; however, unfortunately, Vitale didn’t get to do any of his own material. Oh well. Now you can hear a song by someone you’ve heard a million times…just never heard of.
