Do you respond to comments on your MyLot posts?

I am always confused by MyLotters who do not respond to comments on their posts. I think the best way to get rich on MyLot is to encourage conversations that "take on a life of their own." Sometimes said conversations can be quite funny as well. I try to respond to comments on my posts, even before I venture out and visit others' posts. But then I sometimes miss others' posts. What's a fella to do? Do you try to respond to comments on your MyLot posts?

Yes, I do. And a few Mylotters who post a lot of discussions, but never respond to the replies, confuse me somewhat.

I think they're missing opportunities for some enjoyable conversations, assuming that's a part of what they want. They're also missing out on a few pennies.

@MarieCoyle I prefer conversations to a post and a comment and nothing more.

I know. Isn't this site about interacting with each other? Not just hopping on here and sort of just demanding attention? Or am I being too harsh on them for never responding?

Sometimes it takes me a day or two, but I try very hard to respond to them all. I do get very discouraged at a few people who post and say, gee, I didn't get much interest on this, did I? And I can think of at least 2 that I enjoy their posts, I comment on them, but they never, ever comment on mine. Very discouraging. I think if you never interact, and just expect people to interact on your posts, you should not be here. But that's just how it is. And if I miss a few, it's not intentional. I'm sure if you miss any, it isn't, either.

@TheHorse I know I've missed some. Not intentionally. And if I do see one that I have nothing at all left to say, I hit the like button. That's about all I can do if the conversation has pretty much wound down.

I cannot understand those who never respond to comments. I find this attitude a bit selfish and not polite toward those who spend the time to type a comment. I am here because I like interaction, I do not waste my time typing comments that will never receive any kind of interaction.

@TheHorse I agree, but those who surely make no money at all are those who comment. The person who receive the comments earns.

It is selfish, but it is also impractical for the person that does it. They lose both the opportunity for an interesting or funny conversation and a bit of cha-ching.

@LadyDuck And so it is both unselfish and selfish to make comments worthy of a response.

@TheHorse — I’ve noticed the increased influx of computer-generated responses meant to present the individual posting them as knowledgeable about the topic on which he/she is commenting. Or somethin’ like that. Sheesh, I can’t even write one of “those” comments as a joke!

Yes. of course! By actively participating in conversations on my posts, I think I am not only fostering a sense of community but also contributing to the richness and diversity of discussions. It's a win-win – I get to share my thoughts, learn from others, and, most importantly, enjoy the social aspect of MyLot. What's one memorable conversation or comment that stands out to you on MyLot @TheHorse?

@TheHorse It seems that I search button will not give the discussion with FourWalls about nuanced musical references. For now I am loving my discussion with about Anna -- a getting to know Switzerland.

The ones where DE, Vanny and I go on and on giving each other a hard time. Also the ones where FourWalls and I go on and on with nuanced musical references. Which ones have you enjoyed the most?

@TheHorse Not always. I don't respond to comments that are just yes, or no. I mean I will if we have already been talking- but if their initial comment on my post is just a "yes", "no" or "ok: I usually won't respond.

All the time, and I am often quite involved in those wild, long, drawn out conversations—as you are aware of course since you and I have engaged in several of them. I am often confused as well that some don't interact more, especially with their own posts. After all, we call them discussions. Discussions are exactly what that word means. Conversations.

Usually, but how many times can you say "Thank you" when all they say is "Looks nice." (Since that's a rhetorical question, I don't think it requires a '?' nor a response.) Have a nice day.

I do the obligatory "Thank you" some of the time. But I'll sometimes ask a question that invites further conversation, like "DO you have any similar projects going on right now?" Heck, even "I'm loading my dishwasher" counts as a project to me.

I am guilty. I respond. But some comments come afterwards, and somehow get overlooked. I return at the end of month and try to clear the backlog. But at times, it does stay unanswered. :(

I do try to respond to all comments on my posts, but if the comment is very short or if the conversation has come to a natural end, I always `like' the comment instead of actually writing something in reply. I like it when the discussion changes from the original subject to something completely different,

I had a habit responding to every comment on my post,i think responding is polite to others.Occasionally,i comment a post, but didn't receive any response.Maybe the owner of post forgot to respond,or they ignore my comment on purpose.Anyway,i don't care.just keep responding on my post, that's all.
