Former first lady Rosalynn Carter has died

She was 96. It was only announced a day or two ago that she had entered hospice care. Back in May her family said that she was suffering from dementia. It was announced several months before that her husband, former president Jimmy Carter, was also in hospice. If I did the math right they were married for an incredible 77 years. I am so sad for Jimmy Carter this afternoon. I cannot imagine the pain of suddenly not having your partner and love of almost 8 decades. May she rest peacefully.

Oh, wow... I remember hearing a day or so ago that she was entering hospice, and I thought maybe she and Jimmy would have a bit more time together (since he's been in hospice for a few months). How very sad.

@NJChicaa I hope it was peaceful, and I hope Jimmy's grief is softened.

I know I am so sad also..Jimmy outlived her too..though they were both in hospice care. RIP Saw Jimmy Carter close up at the American Embassy in London..he bent down said hello to my son..he was only 2 yrs old then. Such a nice man. She was lovely Rosalynn.

This is deeply sad. Do you know if flags are lowerd when former First Ladies pass on?

Yes, it's sad that Jimmy has lost his longtime love. I wish hubby and I could make it to 77 years; but that's not happening. Condolences to Rosalynn's family and friends.
