Pasta making practice tomorrow

The actual premise behind this is silly because my sister and I have grown up making homemade pasta and homemade ravioli since we can remember. Our family tradition is to have homemade ravioli as part of our Christmas dinner. We get together in early December each year and bang out like 700-800 of them in a couple of hours. Thank Darwin for the invention of the KitchenAid pasta roller for the stand mixer. Anyway we both know how to make pasta as does my BIL after all of these years. My dad was the one who was always in charge in that department, though, so they want to do a practice run before the actual ravioli day. In reality the fact is that tomorrow would have been my parents' 49th anniversary and no one wants my mother to be alone. I get it. I am sad on my anniversary and I was with my ex for just 16 years. So tomorrow we are making homemade fresh pasta. I am bringing homemade turkey meatballs and sauce from the freezer. My sister is contributing sausage and braciole. My second mom is bringing a salad and Italian bread. It will be a mid-afternoon meal which is fine with me because I am back to work on Monday.

I was wondering how your annual ravioli-making day would go this year without your dad. I'm glad you guys are getting together, even if this is just the practice run.

I think the actual day is supposed to be Dec 9. I am dreading it.

@NJChicaa I can understand that. It's going to hit differently this year.

I'll post a picture or 2 tomorrow. We are a well-oiled machine but Dad always was in charge of making the pasta.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I'm sure your mom will appreciate the company. Have a good week.
