Hearing aids are the new bra. There’s a cartoon a number of my friends have shared on Facebook, where a woman is home from work, lying on the couch, with her bra in her hand. On the back of the sofa lies her dog, with its collar in its hand. That’s about how I feel about my hearing aids. Of course I’m just getting used to them, so the funny feeling in my ears will go away eventually (I hope). I’m a mad cleaner! One task I did today was clean out the drawer filled with OLD (as in, an iPod) cords. I figure just about the time I have the house clean it’ll get cold and I’ll go on vacation. What does the statue of a 13-year-old Elvis have to do with any of this? Nothing that I know of. It’s just one of the pictures I took on my trip last month, and I couldn’t share them all. It’s cold here, but it’s supposed to warm up starting tomorrow. You know how I like my cold and sn*w: ELSEWHERE. I hope everyone has a great day!

It was 45 today very cold. I do not like the cold or the snow.

I liked it before the days of having to shovel it, or drive in it, or endure arthritis in it.

I remember Mom removing her haring aids as soon as she was at home, she hated them. I hope the funny feeling will go away. Mom never adjusted to "those plastic things" as she used to call them. It's cold here, we wake up every morning at 32 F, and during the day it goes up to 42 F, cold!

We didn’t make it to 42F yesterday here. I’d like a nice smooth plastic coating on those hearing aids (like earbuds have). These are a little rough.

@LadyDuck — I know. These seem to be made for vanity (small so they can’t easily be seen). I’d prefer comfort.

@FourWalls I remember that those of my mother were very small and she had a hard time placing them correctly inside her ears.

Glad you're enjoying your new hearing aids. I have a friend who just got hers and she's trying to adjust to hearing

My hearing isn’t that bad, and one of the main functions for these is to try to help tinnitus (I guess the thinking is if I can hear everything then I won’t hear that ringing ). They are really cool, though. They’re paired to my phone, so I can use them as ear buds when I don’t want to listen to anyone.

@FourWalls that sounds pretty good that they're paired with your phone. Hope they help with your tinnitus.

Huh? What did you say? I use my cupped hand as a hearing aid. Sigh.

I use that at the audiology clinic. I think it’s mandatory for them to hear that at least once an hour.

I've been doing a bit more decluttering too. Mostly going through Mum's old diaries and making notes of significant dates. It's been a journey into the past for sure.

That’s so cool. I wish my mom (or her mom) had kept a journal or diary. Alas, with five kids in the Depression my grandmother probably couldn’t have afforded paper or a pen.

@FourWalls It's mostly just noting down what she did, who visited, etc. Just very occasionally there is a more personal sort of comment.

I didn’t do that. I only order sn*w for Alaska, where it SHOULD be.

I don’t mind if photos are unrelated to the post it gives me more to respond about and I love photos! I love seeing statues when I am out traveling to new places. I always take photos too. Sounds like the drawer you cleaned out was a “junk” drawer”. I have many .

Yes, the junk electronics connectors drawer. I have a completely empty set of storage drawers now after ditching all those things (one of which I think might go back to the Windows 3.1 days ).

Well I love that statue..never knew there was one like it. Oh that is a funny picture you described of the woman and dog. I hope those hearing aids you will be able to be more comfortable with.

Yes, they’re like glasses or contacts…an annoying pain in the butt for a few weeks, then fine.

I thought he looked rather short, Cold here for sure the temps have dropped in the 40s and for my unheated apartment I have the heater in the front room where I sleep on 24/7 and the cats hang out there,

Just a wee Elvis, not a big Elvis.
