You get looks now if you use cash in shops and bars etc. I want to use cash,. I hate digital transactions - in stores and online. If you hand over cash you check your change and your done. No fraud ...nothing. With digital the banks are your phone and if you lose your phone , or its stolen, you are in trouble. If you lose your password you are in trouble. And when you swipe your card your money is vulnerable to cyber fraud EVERY transaction. And finally , if you are in a busy bar or restaurant and enjoyed a few glasses of wine do you know if they have put the correct price in, especially on holiday? You could get back home and they could have charged you three grand fora meal or something? .

I've had the opportunity to visit a few cash free shops, and then the electricity buggers out, or the cell signal is lost or the bank is offline and they have customers standing around like dolts because they don't have change or they cannot do books with cash receipts. I avoid those kinds of places generally. I like having the choice. And since card companies charge 3 - 5% processing fees, I would like to get a cash discount,m especially for larger purchases. At some places I can still get this if I push. Somehow the younger generation does not understand this.

I think one must always have the option. Here, many people still transact in cash. Yet for total bills other than 50/100/200 etc, one gets into the problem of change. I think if one keeps a close track in digital transactions, there shouldn't be much of a problem.

Everything you do carries risk. If a bar owner or tender wants to over charge you, they can cash or not. If you're not familiar with how things should be, they can quote you any price. So, if you don't know any better, you can be robbed. It doesn't matter if you use a cash or card, you're still willingly forking over money. Phones have come a long way in digital security. Because you NEVER use your real card, so you're protected that way. Furthermore, you can wipe your phone if it gets lost or stolen. And, unless the thief has your face, fingerprint or knows your passcode they can't use your phone to make transactions. Now, if someone picked up a physical credit card, then yes.... they could rob you blind. And, just like with cash, you can ask a receipt and match the transaction.

I use my debit card and check everything online to see if the charges are right.

I never carry cash I always use my debit card for purchases, For me it is problematic to always get cash and with my debit card I know how much I have and how much I can spend,
