Seriously

I'm really beginning to despise the lady's family who's in charge . So as a few of you might know, I work as a companion for an elderly lady of 95 years old. I do 7 hrs a day and have one day off a week. Which is a Friday. Well, her niece who has word and is responsible for us workers. Called me today to tell me, I won't be off this Friday, for I will recuperate it on Christmas day! I mean, seriously? I tried to discuss I want the Friday and obviously Christmas is Christmas, and nobody works on Christmas day. (So that's logically an extra day off) To that she told me I should find a different job because it's not a state job and be grateful she's giving me Christmas day. Meaning she's taken away this weeks day off (friday) because of Christmas I just don't get how they have the right and authority to make me lose that Friday.

I do not believe she has the right (and the authority) to take out your free day. My sister in law had hired a companion for her mother and she had to give her one free day per week and (of course) the holidays. I would inquiry at a local office.

That's what I thought. Unfortunately I'm a little stupid when it comes to defending myself and accepted. But I'm not happy about it

@Karusa I am sorry you accepted, she has been bully and abusive. I think you should go inquire when you can, so you are prepared in the event she asks you the same for the end of the year.

This is terrible! How can they do this? Ofcause Christmas should be an extra day off. If it was me I'd be telling her where to stick her job, but that might not be an option for you. You may like and need this job, even though you are beginning to despise the lady whose in charge!

@Karusa Well, I hope you find something better, so.that you can leave, especially if the hours are too long. And if you are starting to despise the lady whose in charge!

Ideally, your Friday should not have been a working day, if you want an off on that day. However, some employers are ruthless, hurtless and they are selfish too and do not bother about needs of others. If you have a choice, you can choose any other job, or you will be have to bear with the situation.

You're right, they act very selfishly.
