God Bless the Broken Road

"Bless the Broken Road is a song by Rascal Flatts . It is mentioned a time or two in the book "God Bless the Broken Road" The book is by Jennifer Dornbush. She is usually a screenplay writer, and did write a screenplay by this name before the novel. There was a movie made by that name as well. The book tells you upfront it is a Christian Fiction. I enjoyed it, it was easy reading. It did not end with "the guy gets the girl and they all live happily ever after". It did end with many people getting past their hurt, stubborness, and attitude to some healing. I am not sure why Bob checked this book out, but I did enjoy reading it. I think he was interested in one of her three other books. The main character is Amber, a war widow, who is floundering in debt, and despair. She does not get along with her mother-in-law. She neglects the hard truths of her budget. She is angry at God, ashamed of her failure, and in denial about her future. There is a failed, bull headed wannabee race car driver who has lost his sponsorship, and has some hard lessons of his own to learn from the wise old man who owns a mechanic shop and trains, or retrains race car drivers. His name is Joe. There are lots of images of friendship, and that is very good. There is a child, her friend, and a go kart. In fact there is a go kart club sponsored by the church. This is light holiday reading with lessons about faith, friendship, and pride. I would recommend this to those who like this genre, like I do. I may have to find another book to read on break.

@GardenGerty I had mine. I consider my previous relationships as broken roads. Leading me to the right one.

That sounds an easy read. Some book are quite disturbing and I can only read one of those at a time - meaning I need a break with something lighter in between such books.

Sounds pretty interesting, I have a Joyce Myers 2015 book I'm reading on, 365 stories of her life B-4 God. I've watched a lot of her videos & I sure can relate.
