Grinding Day Before Christmas Day

This is the downside for working in a Chinese company. They do not understand the essence of Christmas season. As of today, I am going to teach online until midnight. I will still work despite the special day today. Being optimistic drives me to work. I just need to beaver all day long and for tomorrow, I am not going to grind.  Are you the same in my situation? Do they have holidays most of the world does not have you get days off? Maybe a silly question, but never know.

They do have holidays during their Chinese festivals. If they ask the virtual teachers to work during these festivities, I will not accept it.

@Shavkat There you go, I am not sure how that works but be careful there too. The good thing is you can say not from your land and if not in their land they cannot do much to you other than say the normal. These times are scary with these evil leaders.

@crossbones27 Don't worry. I am safe. They cannot touch me here.

China shuns any holidays linked to religion, don't they. Its very disappointing.

You are right. It will be useless if I call their attention to this concern and the like. They just do not care. Taking care of their clients is their top priority at all costs.

There is enough food in the fridge - left overs of the party I will just be idling.

I am sure we are going to have one, too. It means I am not going to think about what meals to cook for the succeeding days.

Merry early Christmas to you! I used to work for a Chinese-owned company in the Philippines, and it is hard to progress in terms of career. The highest spot will always be given to someone they know, or someone they are related to. So I promised myself to never work for a family-owned or similarly owned company anymore. Fortunately for me, I work 100% remote now and have unlimited PTO. I have been on vacation this week, but will be back to work next week, Tuesday. Just hang in there, soon the work day will be over and you will have a chance to properly celebrate.

I agree with you. When they are having holidays, I choose not to work if the company asks us.

@LadyDuck Sometimes they do. It is best to have them during the holidays. But I am not a martyr. So, I am turning down the chances.

Today is a day off until tomorrow (December 25–26). Even if they asked for double pay, I did not give in. I deserve to have time off working with them.
