Dead Air: Yikes?!?

My last class in the morning makes me wait for class time to end. He does not want to talk or participate during the class. I am trying not to have a dead-air session with him. No matter how persistent I am, I cannot persuade him. So, I just kept in silence for the remaining time and waited for it to end. It is a typical scenario wherein a young learner does not want to have the class online. It is not an alarming situation. It is normal. Do you have the patience to handle this kind of student? I could have never been a teacher, as I have no patience with rude students.

At first, I was always agitated. Then, I learned how to ignore it and let it pass by.

@LadyDuck As compared to my former company, the rude students are fewer in these new companies. But then, it can be stressful when dealing with them during the class.

His parents must have forced him to join. You have no choice but to do what you did.

Indeed. I do not want to be stressed out. It is the best course of action.

Most young learners are like this online. That is why I am used to it. Silent treatment is one of the most effective ways.

There is nothing wrong if we stop and let them do what they want.

No, I don't have enough patience. But if I was paid I would try my best to be patient.
