Today's trip to the big Tesco.

We went to the big Tesco again this afternoon. It was windy and rainy when we set out. I forgot my list, so I had to go back in and get it before we set off. When we got there, I put the soft plastic recycle in the recycle receptacle as usual and collected a trolley and we headed towards the lifts. As both doors were opening at either side, it was causing a wind tunnel and a blast of air was whipping through! So we got to the lifts as quick as we could. Fortunately someone was just coming out of one of the lifts, so we didn't have to push the button and wait for a lift! We went straight in and pressed the button to go up. It was good to be out of the wind once the door closed! When we got to the main shop, the first thing we did was go to the magazines where I got Febuary's issue of Artists and Illustrators magazine. Then I went and got 2 bottles of water. I eased them off the shelf with my walking stick! Then I got 2 prawn layered salads. After that we went to look for some New Year cards but we couldn't find any. There were some blank cards that could've been used as New Year cards, but oh, no! Mum was fussy. She has to have cards that say Happy New Year on them! So we left it. Next I went to look for some pads for my Mum. I couldn't find any of the ones my Mum has, but I got my panty liners and sanitary towels. Then we went to the fruit and veg section. I got 2 lots of strawberries and my blueberries, then I got my rocket lettuce. Then Mum said, Oh! I need some cellotape! Have we passed that? And I said, Yes. So we went back to look for some cellotape. We found some pretty coloured washi tape in the stationary section, but no ordinary cellotape, and Mum wanted ordinary cellotape, so we left that too, and headed back to the fruit and veg section. I got my spring onions and Mum got a salad bowl to go with her left over turkey. (When I say salad bowl I mean salad in a bowl, not just the bowl! Infact the bowl was rectangular shaped but it was still described as a salad bowl!) Then I got some soy milk with no added sugar and 2 lemons. After that I got my yoghurts and 3 bottles of milk for my Mum, and Mum got some puddings for Sunday. Next we went to the vegan and ready meals isle. I got some of my no-chicken bites, a mushroom and garlic slice, a sweet and sour Quorn thing and some chicken and bacon style tortellini. Mum looked at the ready meals at the other side of the isle but didn't end up getting anything. Well, the freezers are crammed full and they've still got some left overs from Christmas to eat. Then we went to the ingredients and sauces isle and I got a pot of ground cinnamon and Mum got some apple sauce. Then we went to the canned isle and got 2 pot noodles for my step-dad, a chow mein and an original curry flavour. Mum got a small tin of salmon. After that I went and got some of my small cakes, but Mum didn't want any cakes as she'd still got plenty at home. I also got some maple syrup to go on my porridge. Then my Mum got some sugar and I spent some time checking we didn't get one with a tear in it! Next we went and got some crisps. We have still got plenty of pringles so didn't need those. Then we went and got some chocolate digestive biscuits for my step-dad. Then we went to the cereal isle to get my porridge, but I couldn't get the one I usually get in the blue bag and had to get a different one in a green bag. While we were there Mum got some sticky toffee puddings from the other side of the isle. After that it was off to the frozen section. My Mum got some peas and some other frozen stuff. She got some fish fingers and I got some of the battered cod. Then I went to see if I could get some of my salmon chunks but they were out of stock, but I managed to get some salmon skewers instead. Next we went to get toilet paper for me, and some kitchen roll and food bags. I said that the food bags I got last time were from B&M! We managed to get some food bags with ties but I don't know how big they are. It says Medium on the packet. Then we went to pay. Mum helped me to pack everything in the bags. It came to about £105 something, but then when Mum presented her club card it went down to just over £90! We went and sat on a bench for a few minutes. I went and swapped my book at the Tesco book swap, and came back and sat down again and had a few swings of one of my bottles of water. We went down on the lift and my step-dad wasn't there yet. I'd just sat down on the bench when he came! When we got home we unpacked the groceries and put them away, then I had my dinner and watched some telly. What have you lot been getting up to today? Have you recovered from Christmas yet? I hope you are all well. Have a great night.

We went grocery shopping this morning. The stores were empty, I think that many have taken a short vacation and they are not at home. At least it was a fast shopping. It is very cloudy here today.

@sharonelton - Both grocery stores where we went were almost empty, I would say we were the only customers inside. I have heard that you had a terrible weather the past night.

@LadyDuck I see. Maybe people don't do as much shopping in Switzerland? At least you had the run of the shop when you were in there. Oh, yes, it was horrendous! I was hoping my window didn't leak in or the window get shattered! I think we have toughened glass in our windows though so hopefully that wouldn't happen!

The store was crammed with people when we went to the big Tesco yesterday! I was having a bit of trouble with the trolley because it wouldn't go straight! So I wasn't going as fast as I usually do! It is very cloudy here today too. It was terrible in the night. I don't know wether it was rain or hail but it was battering my window in my bedroom like nobody's business!

@sharonelton You really have a knack of making a shopping list sound interesting! Congratulations. Your mum isn’t half fussy about her cellotape and new year cards. I think I’ll do a big Tesco shop today - running low of stuff and we like to have something nice in for New Year’s Eve.

I do? Thank you very much! She is, isn't she? She's hoping to go to WH Smith tomorrow and see if she can get some from there. I hope you get everything you want when you go to your Tesco today.. Have a nice day.

It sounds like a good grocery trip except for the things they didn't have available. Today has been a busy day.

Thank you very much. Yes, it was. A bit disappointed I couldn't get my salmon chunks, but the salmon skewers sound nice. I hope you enjoyed your busy day. What did you do? Mum went out to go to the hairdressers this morning but came straight back because they were shut! Should have known they'd be shut though as it's still the holidays really!

I went shopping this morning and the place was like a ghost town because there were only a few people about, it seems unreal after seeing how busy it was before Christmas. Hope you enjoy reading your magazine. I used to buy magazines but now they are too expensive, and the ones I brought are full of adverts that I did not find interesting.

When we went shopping yesterday it was packed! My Mum thought, why are they all out buying stuff? Haven't they got any left overs to eat? Yes, I will enjoy reading my magazine. I read some of it last night. The adverts in Artists and Illustrators magazine are mostly art based. There was only one advert that wasn't art based and that was for a trip to Agatha Christie's Torquay that was exclusive to The Telegraph. Artists and Illustrators magazine is part of the Telegraph group so that's why that advert got there. The other adverts were all for artist equipment, art courses and art holidays.
