You can't wait to move away from home...

You've reached an age where you're ready to move out of your home and be on your own. Away from the restrictions that your parents have placed on you. The time that you are to be home from your dates, what you can watch on TV, making sure that you do your chores, and so many other things. One of the big things is having your parents nagging you that it's time for you to go to bed. It doesn't matter whether if you're studying for a test, working on a term paper, watching the end of a movie, or talking to a friend on the telephone, it's time for bed and there is NO staying up later. Either your mom or dad come by every five minutes and nag you that it's bed time and you should be in bed. They don't let up until you give up and are in bed with your lights out. You finally get your own place and set your own rules and limits. You can enjoy your freedom without the seemingly constant nagging of your parents forcing you to comply with their rules and the chores they have assigned to you. And, of course, the big one, your bed time. It seems like heaven the first night that you get to stay up past the assigned bed time without someone nagging every five minutes that you need to get to bed. Ahhh, the freedom!!! Then, you decide to make another decision. You adopt a companion animal. Whether it's a dog or cat, it is now a member of your household. You enjoy the company and the craziness of the new member of your family. You get to play with them, set their rules to live by, decide their feeding schedule, and their time to go to bed. At least that's what you think, boy are you in for a huge surprise!!!! I have just experienced my furry "father" do his nagging that it's time for me to go to bed. He has paraded back and forth in front of me meowing loudly that it's bed time. Then he jumped up on the table that the television is sitting on and sat with his head blocking the screen, meowing. That didn't work either. He then jumped down and jumped up in my lap and laid down and purred like a motor boat. The then kneaded my leg and finally patted my face and meowed like crazy. He nagged worse than my father and mother did. He, as I am writing this, is walking up and down the hallway and meowing loudly. I am going to having to give up and go to bed. So much for my being an "ADULT" and managing my own life. I have 2 cats that run it for me! So I guess I need to say 'Good Night' and give in and go to bed and satisfy my 'furry parents' and their rules. Good night all and have a great morning. Hugs from the furry parents, Petey and Freya.

I left home at the age of 20 and didn't have any pets because I felt it was difficult to take care of myself. I don't have the confidence to take care of a cat or a dog well

Cats. They have a bible. Its called the Book of Cats. In the beginning there were cats. But it was too much work to be a cat. So cats made humans. And humans became slaves to cats. In order to cement the loving relationship between cat and human, cats evolved one simple rule for humans to follow: Thou shalt not ever ignore the Cat. See? You followed the rule and order has been restored to the universe. image from pinterest

I have had cats all of mt life. They just follow me to bed when I decide to go. I've never had one 'managing my life'.
