Experience vs. Schooling

I worked in customer service for 30+ years. I did have my basic training at each of my jobs but much of my office training came from my co-workers. Such things as how to fax documents or cut and paste. I learned these things from my co-workers. Ones who were nice enough to take the time to show me. These things helped me in my job performance. How about you? Did you learn your job from direct schooling or added experience along the way? Or both like me?

Both really. I mean one could not help but learn in a salon just by observing each other. Other things I did take courses for when I could such as business and so on. It is nice of others to help us through teaching us though on the job..I know what you mean.

@celticeagle It is very easy to do so yes..we worked very closely in salons. It is common knowledge among stylists to learn this way.

I worked quite a few years in accounting; so I learned that from schooling. Customer service came naturally to me; so other than company procedures, I pretty much picked it up on my own. I also had my own business for 7 years; and that I learned from a manual and did everything from the ground up myself. It's been an interesting 45+ years. Have a good weekend.

I learnt by instruction for my current job. There are also things that I pick up on the job sometimes. The experience has been nice but I think it's nice to have education in a field before diving in.
