Good morning from this side of the planet . It's a beautiful Saturday morning here. The sun is warm and bright in the sky and we have a cold breeze. So, that's a perfect combination for a gorgeous weather . It's the first long weekend of 2024. We have a holiday on Monday on account of Makar Sankranti. That's the first festival of the year and is celebrated across India with different names in different states. I have written a post about it last year. I might write one on the day . My husband left for airport early in the morning. This year, he wanted to celebrate this festival with his mom. It seems that he has not celebrated it with his mom in the last thirty years since he left for his college. In fact in thoss years when my mother in law stayed with us, he was always out of country on this day. So, though I have celebrated a few Makar Sankranti with his parents, he has not in the last thirty years. And in the last few years, my mom in law is mostly confined indoors due to restricted mobility. So, she is not able to travel and visit us. She was with us from 2012_2018. My father in law struggled with cancer for two years and then passed away in 2014. Since then she stayed with us as she needed medical care and a full time nurse to manage her osteoporosis and dementia. She would go for a month to her native place. My husband's elder brother stays there. After her visit in 2018, she couldn't come back as she had a fall in bathroom and had fracture. Then pandemic happened. And after two years, her health deteriorated so much that she could not make long travel. Since then my husband makes sure to visit her a few times in year, mostly on long weekends when we have no other plans. I would also visit her whenever I can. My husband left at 5 AM. I cooked and packed for my daughter, finished some chores and snuggled back to warm bed around 7 . Then I got up at 8:30. The weather was gorgeous and I went for a long walk . These were the beauties blooming along the walking track in our apartment . Aren't they gorgeous? We have the sides of the track full of them in pink and purple shades. Happy to walk a bit late as it was bright sun outside and I could get some Vitamin D . That's all for now. Catch you later. Have a good time in your myLot corner

Lovely flowers. Monday is a holiday here in the US too. The post office, etc. will be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Enjoy your day.

I have not do photo hunting while walking around here. For the reason that I am always on the run when going out lately.

Yes, it happens. Morning is a rush hour for most of us. Since it's a long weekend and I am in relaxed mood, I paused for a while to enjoy these beauties and capture them. It's nice to be slow at times to enjoy these little things around us Have a good time.

@arunima25 I must say not always on the rush if going out. I tend to go out when having my day off from working with my online companies.

Those beauties look like petunias to me Are they? Hope your Mom-in-law has someone to take care of her. A fall can be disastrous

Yes, they are petunias. Also called as Surfinia ( one of my friend told me). My mom in law stays in a house full of people. My husband's brother's family stays there. Now their son and daughter stays in Bangalore. I keep talking about one of our niece staying in my house for her college. She has a full time house nurse to take care of her. Also, my co- sister has her parents staying in the same house( they moved during covid). So, she has some good company of same age. Yes, she has very restricted mobility after that fall. She is too heavy ( always been overweight) and that adds up to the problem.

You have made the most of the day in these early few hours of the day. 7:00-8:30 is enough to warm up for the day. Then going for a morning walk is added relaxation, makes up for it. How old is your daughter?
