Billionaires in Submarines

I've just read an article about private super submarines for Billionaires, a mere two billion each, as an alternative to super yachts that a lot of them have. The company promoting this hasn't, as yet, produced a physical submarine, but there are lots of lovely (if you like that kind of thing) and impressive-sounding designs ready for whoever coughs up the money. I am wondering if this is a real project or just a tax write-off. According to their own specifications the sub only has a range of nine miles so it's not really going to take the owners very far. This isn't Nautilus travelling the world, it just pootles out of the mooring and back again! Perhaps the potential clients are a bit reluctant to go under water given the Oceangate deaths.

Two billion for a submarine is quite expensive. Ocean gate deaths?

Oceangate was a company that ran tourist visits to the wreck of the Titanic. Last year one of their submersibles imploded killing five people. It was $£250,000 per person each trip so only very rich people went.

This seems like a dud business prospect to me. I mean, 9 miles? And to be under water? I'd rather have a yacht. NOT that I am in a position to afford either. lol

9 miles? That's ridiculous. I wouldn't want to ride in a sub for 1 mile. Have a good day.
