New pot has arrived.

I ordered a fat skimming pot and it arrived today. I've used a couple before but they weren't robust enough and cracked when I put hot liquids in them. Perhaps it's my fault for expecting cooking utensils to be heat resistant! Anyway this new one should last a while and do the job for me. Do you have any utensils that do just the one job but you still use a lot?

We have mostly things that can be used for many functions. I hope your new pot works out for you. Have a good day.

I hope your new pot will be much better in terms of heat resistance and will serve with much durability.

I tried one of these once - at least I think that's what you mean. This was like a jug with the spout at the base so you could pour off meat juices and leave the fat behind. It ought to have worked, but it never seemed to be very good!

That's the kind of thing. You can achieve the same results with a turkey baster but I find that fiddly to do and prefer the jug.

@KarenAnne I think maybe I just didn't have enough volume to make it work. I reverted to the method of floating kitchen paper on top of the pan to absorb the fat.

Yes. We have cooking pots that we use frequently. We call them "sufuria". They are not made of clay like a real pot.
