Some people will say you should cook beans longer if you don't want to gas after few hours, but beans has high protein and ammonia and will surely make you gas regardless of how long you cook it. It can also cause digestive discomfort in many people and that is why they avoid it.

There is no way to prevent it. Beans are sweet, I love eating them.

@ogbenishyna It's normal to pass gas after eating. But that is not enough reason for me to stop eating beans.

@mildredtabitha Its normal to pas gas after eating but its abnormal to pass gas all day after eating, like passing gas 25 times a day after eating beans.

@ogbenishyna possibly yes, because we also eat green peas raw unlike beans.

Do you find them problematic? I have never experienced this problem. I think it is partly to do with gut bacteria. If you often eat beans, the bacteria that help to digest them will proliferate and deal with the problem. If you rarely eat beans, and don't eat many vegetables in general, you won't have the right bacteria in your gut to cope.

@ogbenishyna This is a digestive issue. We all have a population of bacteria in our digestive system which help to digest our food.
