A Quick and Easy Concoction

Sometimes you just want a no-frills, quick and easy meal that tastes good. Granted, that may describe most of the things I cook, but I digress. lol Last night was just such a meal, and it never fails to satisfy my wife's craving for something incorporating a red sauce. I just cooked up some penne noodles and set those aside. Then cooked up some chopped onion and green pepper and threw in 30 frozen Italian style meatballs. In with the cooked noodles and then a can of Hunt's pasta sauce and just a wee bit of water. Finalized it with some oregano and Italian seasoning, covered and let it cook a bit. Voila! Served it with some Parmesan cheese on top and parsley. Normally when it comes to any kind of "spaghetti" dish, I will make my own sauce. But I always keep pasta sauce in the house for other things like this. Besides, they are relatively cheap at just $1 per can and easy and quick. What went on your dinner table last night?

@Marilynda1225 One of my co-workers made up a huge batch of fried shrimp. Tons of it. I felt fat afterward because I ate so much shrimp. I had to check myself this morning to see if my skin would start turning pink from eating so much shrimp (like flamingoes do).

Man, I can't tell you how much I love shrimp, so that definitely sounds really good. Fried is always good, but of course I like it all ways.

@Beestring I am sure eel is very good. Does it taste like fish or more like chicken or something?

@porwest It is delicious. HK people like Japanese food. Sushi, sashimi, and grilled eel are popular ones.

I had steak tartar yerterday (raw meat cooked with lemon juice) as I´m looking for cold food. I always add some bought pasta sauce to the home made sauce for the color.

Fish is always good. I'd eat it way more often if it wasn't so darn expensive. But it sure is good.

My kind of meal. Our housekeeper brought me a plate of food -- bean burger, pasta salad and mac and cheese. It was all good. Have a good weekend.

@porwest They were making beef burgers and bean burgers. I told her I try to stay away from beef (except for Meals on Wheels) and would prefer a bean burger.

That's the second time I have heard bean burger in a week. What gives? lol. But all your food sounds good and glad your housekeeper was able to bring you some.

@porwest we've been having meatloaf lately and I hadn't made it in awhile. Guess it just woke up my meatloaf taste buds and I made it bigger so I would have leftovers.

@Marilynda1225 Honestly, for me, there isn't much that has to happen to open up my meatloaf tastebuds. It's too good to say no to and I never could find myself without a taste for it.

That sounds delicious. I actually have 2 lbs of ground beef in the freezer downstairs designated for a meatloaf. Eventually it will come out and we will have it.

well, that's a creative one. I must say, I'm not an expert in making Italian food. My dinner is fried tofu, steamed vegetables and chicken with chili sauce.
