Telemarketers and...

I complained a couple of weeks ago about the massive number of telemarketing calls I was receiving. Someone mentioned about the FEDERAL DO NOT CALL LIST and enrolling on it. I did and it cut down on the number of calls enormously. I still get calls here and there, but the following statement is not only very handy but also very FUN to use on the person on the other end of the line. I let the person get started and then say: "Excuse me, but I am on the Federal Do Not Call list, and if you call this number again I will turn your phone number over to my attorney and he will be in contact you and the company that you are working for!" It's funny how fast they apologize and hang up. It's rather fun and I stop getting calls from the same list of numbers that might be different by one digit at the end of the phone number. But your first step is to get on the Federal Do Not Call List, which is easy to look up on your computer.

I placed my numbers on that list decades ago, and these days, neither of my phones ring much.

I don't need to get on a list, I just let them know that they are fake callers to get a real job & stop calling my # cause I AM the police & they stop calling me, I know what to listen for when I pick up the receiver, there's a slight sound that I hear.

I'm glad you were able to stop the calls to a large degree. The statement you are using should definitely do the trick. I like to put them straight.

That's great that the register has helped cut down on the number of telemarketing calls. Luckily we get very few nowadays.
