The Good - I got a whole bag of fruit

This was such a beautiful moment. I do not ordinarily engage with strangers when I hike, but when a couple called out to me, in English, from their porch on a farm house about 8km from town this afternoon, for some reason I did stop. Usual questions where are you from, what you are walking 15km plus! etc, then out of the blue - "you need some water?" I protest, no, thank you, that I've got (I know those areas have well water and that it is a real mission to get potable water). Next thing I'm told to wait by the husband, he runs inside! I'm still chatting to the her about town and how long we are staying, when he comes running back with a whole bag of fresh fruit! I was so grateful - never in all my life of hiking has anybody ever offered me something or actually given me something - mostly I have to fend off beggars or I suffice with a quick hello. But this was just two wonderful people who shared a bounty of joy with me. I'm at once grateful and humbled. The kindness and goodness of those two beautiful people will be a wonderful memory for many years to come.
