What happened to any kind of service?

We have some "work" to do at the mall in Fort Walton. Well actually it is pre-work, but they don't open the doors till noon. Which we discovered when we got to the mall and walked in....Tell me why the doors were unlocked and open if the mall doesn't open till noon. Anyway McDonald's is down the road and we were margianally hungry so we decided to come down here and get something to eat. It was cheap- because we are the epitome of living on a budget right now. So we opted for a $3.49 meal each and split a large drink. Well the workers messed up our sandwiches not once not twice but three times. Since when did 2 McDoubles with only mayo, ketchup and cheese mean you got two single patty hamburgers with nothing but cheese and onions. They made them wrong three times before they finally made them right. And when they finally made them right they mustve been upset with us because there was so much mayonaisse on the burgers that it squirted when you bit into them, they were cold on top of that. So safe to say we will NOT be coming back to this Mcdonalds'. I mean I know it's only fast food work, but they are making $15-$16 an hour, they could at the very least act like they give a crap and want to give some sort of service. They are making three times what I did at my first job.

I stopped going to any fast food restaurants decades ago. I´d rather go hungry! If I am too hungry I can buy one of those potato chips that come on a bag. They have enough salt to take our BP to the top but at least they are clean. But normally I either make my own meals from scratch ( less expensive than going to McDonalds) or I wait until someone invites me to a very good restaurant.

Fast food is just not worth the cost, it’s never right. Plus, way too pricey! I honestly would rather eat PB&J than McDonald’s. We just eat at home and that’s not that cheap, eith! But way cheaper than eating out. I do understand that sometimes people don’t have a choice.

We spend too much time in the vehicle to do that. We usually have some snacks with us but I needed to use Wi-Fi.

@MarieCoyle Fast food gets a bad rep, for sure. But I have to say I actually consider it a treat. I don't mind fast food at all. I mean, I am not going to eat it everyday, of course. But every once in a while I find I do enjoy it.

Service is something almost unheard of anymore, and these overpaid people (in my opinion) just don't care. It's that simple. I am not even sure we can call it fast food anymore when I have to wait 15 minutes for my food and when it arrives it's like it was made 15 minutes before they served it to me.

It seems like all the fast food places we’ve been to in the last six months don’t have customer service or service of any kind anymore but there’s a couple McDonald’s they really really need to rethink how their employees treat the customers

@porwest they don't care about the customer. There's very few places that care about the customer. There's a little tiny sandwich shop about fifteen minutes from our house that is one of the very few places that I think still cares about the customer. That's why it's one of our favorites

@thislittlepennyearns You'd think with some higher wages those employees would be happier. Wasn't that supposed to be part of the deal? Nah, they just wanted more money. They never cared about actually earning it and showing people they deserved it.

If they lived here, they wouldn’t be getting paid even that much.

It’s rediculous how much they get paid. I had an argument a couple years ago with somebody who tried to tell me that working at McDonald’s with skilled labor

As someone who's worked in the food service industry, I can tell you the pay isn't worth it. No one wants to work at a place like that, because the hours suck most of the time, working conditions aren't ideal and they have to deal with all types of people while smiling. It's not easy. It's mentally exhausting. And you would think 15/hour is easy money, it's not. When you factor in taxes and cost of living their take home pay amounts to less than what I made when I worked for Pizza hut. I agree, people should, but I can understand why they don't.

I managed a fast food restaurant for like eight months and didn’t get paid what they’re paying the burger flippers now so yeah it’s annoying and aggravating

That's really bad. What is so hard about giving a person what they order first time.

@thislittlepennyearns Someone else wrote about how people are changing - and not for the better. Nobody seems to care much any more.

Because they don’t care they don’t have to eat it it’s not their order. It doesn’t affect them it’s just how the world is now

I worked in a Denny’s for a while in high school and right out of high school and I worked in a couple different fast food settings or restaurant settings and it isn’t that hard to get the burger made right the first time so I don’t understand why these people can’t do it.

We almost never go to McDonald's. We both prefer Burger King

I worked at Burger King but I used to prefer it when they still made food right and it wasn’t outrageously expensive. But there are only a couple Burger King locally that are even worth going otherwise this service is just crap

That sounds like a bad deal all around, I am surprised you got this bad service. However, when I was going to university I wound up with a very bad case of food poisoning from McDonalds who they discovered did not change their oil often as they should have, Never went to that one again after I recovered,

We didn’t have a choice that’s what fit the budget and that was what was right there but I sent them an email and they’ve already refunded the meal
