This morning I called my doctor's office to make an appointment. I'm due for a six months evaluation, to find out if my numbers have improved in any way. Tawn wasn't happy with a few numbers, the last time they did my blood work. She put me on extra large doses of vitamin-D2 and D3 for a vitamin deficiency. Also, I have osteoporosis, so I'm on a calcium supplement, too. My cholesterol was a little high, so I've cut way back on red meat, butter and fried foods. I started eating a variety of beans, fresh vegetables and almonds. Hopefully, these changes will make a difference. It's a real challenge following a healthier diet and looking forward to more acceptable numbers next time around. As we get older, it's obvious that our nutritional needs change. Photo: Take by my son Chad, a few months ago.

Nice picture. Yes as we get older we just can't eat the same foods that we use to without having problems. Hope your numbers will improve this time around.

If you like oat, this helps to lower bad cholesterol. I hope your doctor will find you well.

@kobesbuddy I also love oatmeal and I add some walnuts because those also are good to lower cholesterol.

I'm on large doses of calcium and vitamin D. Hopefully after a month or so of this, I'll go back to having prolia injections again for my osteoporosis.

I get an IV once a year, for osteoporosis. I guess it rebuilds bone mass, which sounds pretty good!

Yes, why are healthy diets so unappetizing?

I have blood drawn every six months, to find out if I've developed any health issues. They found osteoporosis the last time, so now I'm treated for bone thinning.

Good luck with your numbers! We have cut back on red meat here also and have been eating more seafood. We will be doing more fishing this Spring and Summer also, as the old boat is fixed and ready to go. Hubby also bought his brother's boat, which is bigger and will be more comfortable when the grandkids go out with us.

I remember the first time they told me I had high cholesterol I was shocked. The doctor said our metabolism just changes, even if we aren’t eating things that are normally bad for us. What a disappointment! I hope they are happy with what they see, but I imagine you took the necessary changes to get everything where it needs to be.

My daughter has her meds check appointment on that day too. I also have osteoporosis. I couldn't follow a diet. I eat healthy some and junk some. I am seeing the out come of that too. But, such is life. Just my attitude.

It is a challenge to change so many aspects of your diet, knowing you, you've done it. I am hoping that your numbers reflect thhose changes. I do like the picture that you used, I like trains.

Neat picture. I hope your numbers turn out well. I'm surprised they didn't give you a prescription med for the osteoporosis. They did when I had it. Bravo for changing your diet. That's hard to do. Have a great day.
