Today's shopping trip down town.

Today I went shopping down town agaIn. My Mum told me it was forecast to rain, so she advised me to wear my mac with the hood. But the sun was shining and I thought I'd be able to get back before any rain came, if it did come, so I didn't bother. I got my bag of things for the Oxfam shop in the trolley, and a big bag with th the foldable fabric storage boxes on top of the trolley. I held them in place by holding the handles of the bag they were in and holding the handle of the trolley too. I went round the top path round Stowe Pool again. There was a really massive swan by Stowe Pool, near to the end where you go through the part with hedges either side, just pruning itself on the bank. It must have only recently fledged because it still had some of it's fluffy brown baby down, but it was massive! As I was walking and holding the handle of the bag and the trolley the boxes were scraping against my hand and hurting. So I wanted to get rid of them ASAP. So I decided I was going to go straight to the Oxfam shop without going to the toilet by the Cathedral first. I went into the Oxfam shop and told the lady there I had some donations, and I passed her the bag with the foldable fabric storage boxes in. She said thank you and would I like my bag back. I said no, and then opened the lid of the trolley to get the other things out. The lady said, there's more? and I said, yes! So I passed her the bag of brick-a-brack and left. I went through the market place and then up to the Three Spires Shopping centre and got some pictures of my little nephews printed at the Photo Expert shop. Then I went to Holland and Barrett and got 3 packets of liquorice, 2 for me and 1 for my Mum. We had to have the raspberry flavour again because there were still no black liquorice. Then I got 3 lots of seaweed thins! I payed for those. I didn't need to go to the down town Tesco today because my Mum would only have been wanting strawberries from there and I could get them from Iceland. So, when I came out of Holland and Barrett I went to the Oxfam book shop. I wanted to see if they had a copy of Chapterhouse: Dune by Frank Herbert. It's the only one of his 6 Dune novels that I haven't got. I didn't think they would have though. First I looked at the art books and I got 3 books, 2 were dedicated to acrylics and the other one dealt with oil, acrylic and gauche. I probably won't bother with the oil paints though. Then I went over to the Sci-Fi section. They didn't have Chapterhouse: Dune by Frank Herbert, but I got 2 books by Isaac Asimov and 2 books by Arthur C Clarke. When I'd paid for those I went over to the Waterstones book shop to see if they'd got Chapterhouse: Dune by Frank Herbert. They did not. They had Children of Dune and God Emperor of Dune, both of which I've already got, but not Chapterhouse Dune. And they had the first Dune novel on a table. So I came out of there without anything. When I came out of the Waterstones book shop, I saw a little white dog. He was one of those West Highland Terriers. Sorry, she! I said, hello little doggy. Her owner must have thought I was mad! I tried to stroke her but at first she flinched away, so I just held my hand out so she could sniff. When she knew I was not a threat, she let me stroke her. Her owner said, she likes that. You like that, don't you Poppy? So I stroked her a bit more, then I got up to go and I said, Nice to meet you, Poppy, to the dog. The lady that I talk to sometimes that hands out leaflets for a street preacher was there so I had a bit of a chat with her, and then I went to Iceland and got a Chinese style chicken curry, a sweet and sour chicken, a paella and those strawberries I mentioned earlier. I paid for those and then I went home. I decided not to go to the toilet by the Cathedral and I just went home. When I was going back round Stowe Pool, that swan was still there pruning itself. I couldn't get over how massive it was. Then a black cloud came over and I could feel it just starting to spot with rain! I saw these two scruffy little dogs coming towards me, I wasn't paying much attention to the owner! And it was our Pastor Steve and his wife Jane who has just retired from being a dentist! Steve said to me, Hurry up Sharon! You're going to get wet! And I said yeah! I did try to speed up but I wasn't fast enough for the rain which began to come down in a torrent, or that's how it felt anyway! It did manage to go off again just before I got home! When I got home, I got out of my wet coat, and I went and gave my Mum her change and her shopping list back. Then I unpacked the groceries and put them away. I had a stir fry for lunch today and I sat down and had a rest because I was exhausted! What have you lot been getting up to today? I hope you are all well. Have a great night.

Hi Sharon, I am well impressed that you got there and back without going to the loo. I’m not sure I could! Has the cystitis cleared up?

@sharonelton I’m glad you don’t have cystitis. You must be one of those people that just can’t pass a loo. My mother used to be the same. She always worried that she’d get caught short, so went even if she didn’t have the urge to go.

@Orson_Kart Yes, I'm just one of those people who just can't pass a loo! But I managed to on Friday! Yes, that's what I'm like! Gotto go to the toilet in case I get caught short down town. Gotto go to the toilet in case I get caught short on the way home.......

We meet a lot of dogs here if we go for a walk. Sometimes, if the dog belongs to someone in our village, we know the dog's name but not the owner's name. That's a bit embarrassing too.

Yes, so do we. Now I know the dog, Poppy's name, but not her owner!

What a very productive day you had! Arthur C Clarke is one of my favorite science fiction authors. I really liked his Rama series.
