Dave Myers of the Hairy Bikers has died. / myLot

Dave Myers of the Hairy Bikers has died aged 66. He was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. If you don't know who the Hairy Bikers are, they are a couple of British celebrity chefs who go around on motorbikes. The other member of the Hairy Bikers is Si King. Si King has given a moving tribute to his friend. It's really strange, because I only mentioned the Hairy Bikers here yesterday, in a conversation talking about travelling up route 66. Dave Myers was my favourite Hairy Biker, and I'm very sad.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't really watch TV but I did know who they are. It's good to have characters who are a little bit eccentric and make good programmes and not the usual cr*p 'reality TV'. Very sad.

@sharonelton My youngest daughter (age 11) was introduced to Traitors by her 10-year-old friend and they have been watching it assiduously! I thought it was awful too!

Yes, I liked watching the Hairy Bikers. They had a good sense of humour and they were fun to watch. And yes, they were better than some of the rubbish we get on the TV these days. Have you seen the Traitors? I haven't watched it thank goodness, but the trailers were awful!

RIP, I used to enjoy their shows, back in the day they made better food than most on the cookery channel.

I had not heard of him, or his costar, but it is always sad to see any soul pass on, and especially a creative soul who was cared about so much.

Very sad.

I loved watching The Hairy Bikers and have a couple of their books. I’ve even been to see them live in Newcastle. Great fun. They were a fabulous double act and Si will be devastated. RIP Dave Myers.
