A birthday should be holiday

I remember when I used to work for one company many years ago our birthday was a holiday. If it was your birthday you had the day off. Wouldn't it be great if all companies did that? If it's your birthday you shouldn't be working. You should be having fun and celebrating. And it shouldn't be a big deal as it's only for one day.

That would be cool. My parents gave me the day off from school for my 16th birthday. That was pretty nice, but my jobs never let me off.

That was nice of them. Did you have to bring a note to the school about your absense?

Paid birthday leave can be a nice perk, boosting morale and offering a day for celebration. However, it may not be the best fit for all companies due to feasibility and varying employee preferences. Ultimately, it depends on individual work cultures and needs. Huh?

At the very least we should be able to take a day off on our birthday, even if that means we won’t get paid. Who wants to work on their birthday?

I agree that it should be great. My husband and I were self employed, we could never really decided to have a day off, often we have worked on weekends.

@lovebuglena If you have no appointments with your clients and you have nothing extremely urgent to do, you can try to take a day off.

If you’re self-employed it’s easier to take the day off I would think.

I don't remember if I took the day off or not. I'm glad your company gave you a holiday for your birthday.

I think it depends on the individual. You should be a choice, not pressed on you regardless.

If someone wants to work on their birthday they can do that. But I think we should be able to take off if we want to.

That would be nice. The last company I worked for gave fewer holidays than any other place I've ever worked. Have a good weekend.

Hubby only gets three official days off. Christmas, New Years, and Thanksgiving. That’s a bit unfair.

@LindaOHio At least now that his dealership has new owners he has better work hours. It's 10-6 now. But there's still plenty of times he has to stay way past 6.

Oh how interesting!! Why don't all companies implement such interesting rules? Why can't we think of mass welfare in these terms?
