Do we need effort to overcome anxiety and depression?

Everyone says that we need effort to overcome anxiety. My therapist thinks differently. He said that we don't need any effort and overcoming anxiety shouldn't be a struggle. What is your opinion about this? I think that we need to make some efforts and we have to change our way of thinking. When I stopped making any efforts I didn't feel better. What do you think about this? I am confused because I noticed that some efforts are necessary.

I panic in few situations. I avoid such situations. But life doesn't like me enjoying my life so happily and it forces me to be in such situations. What I observed that when your mind understands that you don't have options for something and you have to take that chance, it automatically tackles it in better way. Staying calm in those situation is the most important part. What I observed, I will have high heart beat, then fear takes over my mind and my emotion lose their control and I will either fall unconscious or stuck in mind related pain until that situation is not cleared. I keep my mind distracted, I avoid reading bad news, listening to bad news or anything I am sensitive with switch and put my mind in a loop that can be overwritten by any fear easily.

Sometimes I find very bad news on social media apps. I didn't know that you can fall unconscious because of anxiety. Do you faint? This is my biggest fear, I feel like fainting many times.

If you have anxiety, then you have no option but to feel this anxious feeling within you, there is no saying, method, or technique you can master to prevent this. You must find the reason behind your anxiety and try to find a way to avoid the problem that is causing your anxiety.

@dya80dya I know your condition. Your parents do not support you and you cannot have a job. Hard to fight anxiety.

There are many reasons which give me anxiety, but I can't change them. I live in a toxic environment and I don't have a job. I feel stuck.

@dya80dya I get it now. It's a handicap that has been thrust on you. I'd advice that you find ways to earn some money, make acquaintances in your area, write extensively over here on MyLot, sell what you create and book a holiday home eventually. The place sucks and you're in the thick of it. Focus on yourself more. Your well being is your primary concern. At the end of the day, please do not forget to thank God for the difficult situation. Please don't scoff at me for not understanding. I believe, if He has put you here, He alone will lift you up, if you have the faith. God alone is one's true friend.

Effort is necessary, but in a lot of people it takes more than effort. For some people, the effort is in continuing to look for help until they finally get a satisfactory amount of it.

My therapist said that effort can increase anxiety. And he said that feeling good is our true nature.

Therapists have different approaches. Yours might focus on accepting anxiety and living your values, not fighting it directly. This might feel different from forcing changes through effort. Talk to your therapist about your concerns and explore what works best for you. For me, nothing works.

It's true, he is focused on accepting anxiety. If our life is difficult nothing works.

I think making an effort is necessary. Like thinking positively, complementing other people, making new friends, going out and participating in fun activities.
