All in all the surgery went well. Before my sister and I left for home on Thursday, he was having some issues with his heart jumping around. He'd go from 60 beats per minute up to 129. It was all over the place...69, 84, 117, 94, 120, 74 and so on and so forth. They finally determined it was something to do with his pacemaker and they called in a rep, they were able to reset it, and his heart rate was fine after that. They have him walking several times a day and doing certain exercises. He still has some pain, of course, but he is handling it well and keeping in good spirits about it. I won't stop worrying yet, of course. But he seems to be making very good progress and that's a good thing. The worst is over. He is set to go home either today or tomorrow, so we will see. Onward and upward, and another round of thanks for all of the support from you guys through all of this. I really appreciate it.

That's wonderful. It always helps when people get to go home after such an ordeal.

I think in a couple of months he should be in much better shape for sure. He got to go home finally yesterday, the 4th.

@rebelann I think so too. There's something about being in your creature comforts that is healing.

@porwest Tell him your music buddy says "Carry on. A little bit of progress every day." Don't tell him we're arch enemies. He doesn't need that.

Those representatives of the medical equipment are pretty handy to have around. I am glad they figured out that the pacemaker was part of the problem.

Something must have happened with it during the surgery, although I have no idea what. He went home yesterday (the 4th) by the way. He's glad to be out of the hospital.

I think he should be going home Monday or Tuesday. Haven't heard the latest yet. I just know they are monitoring his oxygen sats.

I am glad too that it was a simple issue and not something indicative of something that had gone wrong after the surgery. It was a relief that's all it was.

I try to be a good son. I know I can always be better, but I am working on it. This was a bit of a wake up call.

I'm glad he came through the surgery well. I'm glad they reset the pacemaker. Did he go home yesterday?

That's such good news. They don't keep people in hospital very long nowadays if they can help it. Over here, I think the main worry is that golden staph is in the hospitals and always lurking ready to pounce on some unfortunate soul.

He looks good for what he has gone through. There is will ups and downs along the way which are perfectly normal after such a surgery. The worse is behind him. Each day will get a little easier and a little better. Thanks for keeping us updated.

I am glad to read that he is now doing well, and I hope that he continues to be. That's a tough operation, for sure.
