Breakfast with my mother is scheduled

I have 2 periods off back to back from about 9 am to 10:30. I often go tanning during that time but on Tuesday I'll be meeting my mother (and probably second mother) for brunch at a restaurant literally around the corner from where I work. I don't call her as often as I used to after Dad passed but I do still feel like I need to make an effort. She and I are not close nor do we have a great relationship but I'm trying to do the right thing. I know how devastated I am after Dad's death so I can't imagine how she feels each day.
I will ask my work BFF if she wants to come because she has the same 2 periods off. I hope either she will or my second mom joins because we tend to need a buffer between us. Oh well. At least I am trying.

It's wonderful that you're making an effort to connect with your mom, even though it can be challenging. It's understandable to want some support, and asking your friend or second mom is a great way to do that. Sending you positive vibes for a positive brunch experience. You're doing the right thing by trying.
