Catnip mouse chicken noodle soup...

I found a package of chicken thighs in the fridge, so instead of just baking them like I would usually do, I decided that since it's colder here I would make one of my favorites-chicken noodle soups. Of course plenty of noodles in it too. I cooked the thighs and cut up the meat, then added the noodles and veggies. Since I love tons of noodles I added a 5 ounce bag of noodles. YUM!!! I had my lunch at 3:15, but for the quality of the soup it was worth the wait. I was scarfing down the soup when one of the 4 legged fur balls came in from her nap. She climbed in the fruit box I have sitting under the table and she spotted her catnip mouse. It was attack time!!! She got busy and was beating the daylights out of the mouse while I was eating most of my soup. Then suddenly, without warning, something came flying through the air and landed in my bowl of soup!!! Fortunately it was 95% gone when the catnip mouse came flying through the air and landed smack dab in the middle of the bowl of soup!!! A Siamese cat came flying after the mouse!!!! The outside cats got to sample home made chicken noodle soup with veggies, accented with catnip mouse. I think there was a small Siamese cat hoping that I would give her the soup....maybe after dinner tonight. I often wonder what people who don't have critters do for entertainment and laughs. Our furry friends can manage to find ways to entertain us without half trying....right down to "flying catnip mice in your lunch".

@Happy2BeMe I do have to say that I don't spoil them in the least bit (if you believe that elephants grow wings and fly! They both are very loving critters and show that love to anyone who stops to say "Hello". It isn't too often that there is anyone that they don't like, but when there is you can be sure there is something radically wrong with the person. They showed that trait not too long age when a man tried to worm his way into my life, he wanted to cuddle and pet my cats and they wanted nothing to do with him. It turns out that he had a prison record that was very long and along with numerous felonies including manslaughter he also did time for child molestation and indecent exposure. I invited him to leave and not contact me again. You can trust on an animal's instincts 100%, and they are 100% correct about my neighbors here in the apartment complex! The picture is of Petey, I can't find the one of the pair sleeping on the foot stool, which doesn't happen often. They both are heart stealers though...

I couldn't be without one. Even my neighbors are hooked on this pair. They come by the diningroom window and call for the pair to come and be paid attention to. I call it the cat's fan club. I'll find all kinds of goodies on my door from the neighbors for the cats...and of course Petey (the ginger tabby) and Freya (the Siamese) love it. Yesterday I bought them canned tuna packed in water for their treat----they love it!!! Freya will finish and go after her catnip mouse.

They both work hard at keeping me amused and also they work hard at making me feel like I am ultra protected too. I am so grateful that I have the pair and was able to have them in the apartment.

You would have loved Petey last night helping me with my dinner. I had a bowl of chicken noodle soup, and one of the noodles was hanging over the outside of the bowl, so Petey decided to eat it. It was a rather LONG noodle, and he kept lapping and licking and lapping and licking, the noodle just didn't want to end. Finally I cut the noodle with my spoon so the poor guy could finish eating his noodle and mooch some chicken to go with it all. I couldn't ask for a better pair, for company or entertainment!

He's gonna love my breakfast! As soon as I finish here and throw on some street clothes, I'm going to make some French toast. The soup is almost gone. I have enough for lunch and dinner today and then I can figure out something else. Of course this all hinges on my getting Petey off my lap when I want to stand up, the wonderful thing about cats is that they can manage to lay a guilt trip on you even when something is obviously their idea to start with. Both of my brats have that down to a science.

It's funny but I'm sorry your peaceful meal time was intruded by a mouse flying in your soup. The cats must have been very happy to get drinking the remaining of the soup.

Thankfully I was almost finished with my soup when the catnip mouse landed in the bowl. The pair of spoiled felines usually get some samples of what I have been eating. But this was extra special since it was "chicken noodle" soup that was home made rather than out of a can. They both lapped it up like crazy, and they slept soundly and peacefully after their bellies were full of the soup that also had shreds of chicken in it. When I crawled in bed later that night I had two cats in bed with me, one on each side of my head.

@BearArtistLady It's nice to hear your story. The cats made your day. The way you describe them, I can tell you love them.
