Back from dinner with my mother / myLot

It was just the 2 of us so it was strained but whatever. We survived. We had dinner at an Italian-American restaurant around the corner and then she wanted to have hot fudge sundaes from McDonalds. I just went with it because I don't have the energy to argue with her. She gave me the present from her ($100 bill) and the present my sister forgot the other day. That was a $100 Amazon gift card and a bracelet with what looks like a washer on it. Stamped into the metal are the words "HAVE FUN". As teenagers and college students my dad always asked my sister and I before we left the house "what's the number one rule?" The correct answer was "have fun!". I cried when I opened that up. Anyway I am back now and just catching up on things. What's everyone else up to tonight?

That’s over now and you did your best, that’s all that matters. I’m glad you got the bracelet, even though it made you cry. My own Dad always stressed the fun as well, it makes life special.

I used to have a bad relationship with my mom. But then, it turned out that she became my best friend. We had talked about things heart-to-heart, and it worked. Now, she is in heaven with my old man. I have been missing since then.

Glad you managed to get through that OK. I had a difficult relationship with my mother too. I wish it could have been different but at least I know I tried my best. That was a sweet gift, sometimes simple little things touch the heart.
