Spring continues....

I FINALLY got around to mopping the apartment. I started in the studio/living room figuring that it would dry first (which I was right about) and ending in the bathroom. It went rather smoothly until I finished in the bathroom. I had just finished the floor and stepped into the middle of the linoleum floor and my feet started to flail about. I tried hard to keep from falling, but down I went, HARD, on my right hip and my right wrist. Drat!!!! With my luck I broke something. I knew full well that if I tried to stand up, I would fall again, so I butt walked to the bedroom entrance and somehow managed to stand up. My hip wasn't broken, because if I had broken it, I wouldn't be able to stand on it. So, I very carefully walked down the hallway to the studio/living room and sat down. My wrist still kind of hurts but it isn't broken, if it were I wouldn't be able to do anything with it. So, I waited for the floors to finish drying and I emptied the mop water and put away the bucket and mop. I kicked back and worked on the mink bear that I was trying to turn inside out, which took quite awhile, as mink the way I do it, is hard to turn inside out. I finally got the mink dealt with and am reworking the head of the bear. I had sewn it on my sewing machine and the machine didn't like trying to sew mink with the hide and backing fabric. So, I had to remove all the stitches and am having to hand sew the head, which is working fine. I should be able to stuff, joint and finish the mink bear tomorrow. I put all the stuff back in the places they belonged (I picked them up before I started mopping) and sat down and had some lunch. The cats have happily slept through all the excitement of my falling on my fanny and wrist, mopping, putting the stuff where it belonged and fixing my lunch. Soon they will be ready to join me for bed. At least I accomplished some stuff today and didn't waste the whole day. Tomorrow I get to contact the thrift shop and see about the booth spaces for the sale in April. Hopefully there will be two things, one is that they have an empty spot, and secondly that they actually have two empty spots next to each other. What's so nice is that it has been so nice and warm. Here it is, nearly 8 p.m. and it's 71 degrees. Last week it was around 40 degrees at this same time. My neighbor friend is complaining about the warm temperature and that it will continue to get warmer. I'm saying that it is so great that we don't have to run our heating bill up because of the awful cold. I can do as I have been planning and paying a bit extra on my electric and gas bills and have a nice credit building for when fall and winter arrives. The only drawback to the warm weather is that the cats are shedding like crazy, and the floor looks like I have had a massive fur upcycling project going on. I swept yesterday and swept up about 8 ounces of cat hair. I swept again today and swept up another 8 ounces of cat hair. By the end of summer I should get enough hair to knit two dozen cats! How is your start to Spring going???? Hopefully you're having a great time. I am going to have to get more allergy tablets, I have been nearly scratching my nose off my face! I don't have to watch the clock to know when I am due for my next dose of allergy medication, my nose alerts me immediately!!! It wouldn't be so bad at home, but it's awfully embarrassing when I'm out in public!!!! Have a great night and a wonderful morning. I'm not too sure what I am going to be up to tomorrow afternoon. My gentleman friend called to tell me that he was going into town today if I wanted to ride along. He called about the time I was trying to get my fat fanny off the bathroom floor...and the phone was in the studio/living room. So, on that note, I'm going to get another glass of iced tea and get somewhat ready for bed. Have a great night and have happy dreams. Hugs to you all!!!

Oh Lordy I hope you are okay. I took a soft wet mop to my front floors cause a dry broom would have just chased the fur-dust balls around.

I'm okay, I can walk and I still can eat so everything is okay. I may make the trek to the ER and have my wrist checked out because it is hurting and I have stabbing pain when I move it certain ways. I was lucky because I have plenty of padding in the hips so I didn't break anything there. I can walk without pain, and I can sit well too. I am going to get a dust mop for cleaning the floors and gathering up the fur-balls and other fluff. It will control my having to mop too often. I also am going to get a different mop for the floors, I have one of those old fashioned string type mops that look like someone took a wig and attached it to a stick. It does the job but it leaves a bit more wet than I like. Have a wonderful day, and treat yourself to something extra special today. People tend to think of something they would like as a treat, but then say that they don't have the time or some other excuse...I keep telling people to "GO FOR IT!!! Treat yourself now, quit putting it off!!!" Hugs

@BearArtistLady I hope you didn't break your wrist. You worry me. I'm afraid dusting floors is a never ending job that neither of us are going to win. My old wooden floors really show the fur balls. Thanks for the good wishes. Hugs back at ya.

Ouch, that fall sounds really painful and scary! I'm glad you didn't break anything major though. It's good you were able to finish up the mopping and get some work done on your mink bear project. The warm spring weather is nice, but the shedding cats must be a handful. I hope your allergies calm down soon. Getting some rest after that ordeal sounds wise. Wishing you a speedy recovery and better luck with no more falls! Take care.

It was fortunate that I have plenty of padding around the hip/butt area. I got up this morning without pain in that area, but I can't say as much for the right wrist. I may have to give in and go to the ER and get it checked. It didn't swell, but moving it hurts like crazy!!! It also hurt all night long, so it's kind of a "hint" that something might be wrong. I am glad that I started from the front of the apartment and worked to the back. The heat helped dry out the flooring quickly. I just should have rethought doing the bathroom. It isn't a large bathroom, but the flooring is linoleum and as my mom would have said "it's slicker than snot on a brass doorknob." I never could skate well (roller skate that is, from trying roller skating I knew full well that ice skating wasn't an option) and when my feet started going out from under me I started to try not to fall and finally gave in and dropped. I think that's why I didn't do more damage to myself. Once we get to the "fry an egg on the sidewalk" temperatures my allergies should calm down a lot. I don't really like being in public scratching my nose like crazy. My mom had always hoped that she would raise a "LADY" and in her eyes being a lady included NOT scratching one's nose like you were peeling carrots. I am living on allergy medications like crazy. At least I don't need the clock to time when I need the next dose, the first itch and I know the 4 hours are up and it's time for another dose. I really don't mind the shedding cats, between them and the fluff from the bears it's a handful but a wonderful handful. I'm going to get a dust mop to try to control all the fluff that winds up around the apartment. It could be worse; I could have a Saint Bernard to add to the brood. My lease states that I can't have a dog that is over 15 pounds, so I'm safe...plus I'm not good about wanting to walk a dog and cleaning up its business. So much from "Grace". I'm not planning to do too much mopping or exciting type things that could lead to a fall. I'm just going to take my shower, get dressed, and consider making the trek to the ER and having my right wrist checked. Have a wonderful day, and treat yourself to something great.

I'll post some pictures of the bears when I get them finished. I am working on a mink bear right now, I had to take the head apart last night as the sewing machine I was using to sew it together wasn't happy about sewing the fur. I'm rather fussy about how the bears turn out, and the mink ones I'm really fussy about. Have a wonderful day, and treat yourself to something special. It's the perfect day for a special treat!

Girl you need to be more careful, our bones don't heal as easy as when we were kids I think you know that right? & falling the wrong way can put you in a BAD way if your not careful. Why not try & find something you can do with the cat hair being you get so much in a days time, I'd find a way to use it if you could.

I'm going to have to think about what to do with the cat hair. Of course it's getting to the time of year that the cat hair is going to get mixed in with the bear hair so it will be an interesting combination!! I was lucky when I fell, I fell on the padded part somewhat first. I fell on the right hip and butt, then on my right wrist. It's the right wrist that is giving me fits. It hurts like crazy when I move it certain ways, although there isn't any amount of swelling in the area. The pain is also going up into the elbow which isn't normal. I'm going to check online and see if there is a remote possibility that I may have fractured the wrist. I'm hoping not because I want to get more bears finished for the sale next month. I'll keep everyone informed.
